Happy Valentine’s Day with Taylor Swift & Gwyneth Paltrow

No? It can’t all be sweetness and light, can it? Found these shots of Swift & GOOP, which totally should be a new line of salad dressing, at the Grammys the other night and thought, you know, that you might want to take a break from the love and hearts this afternoon for some teeth grinding hate. Notes on a superstar

She loves her life. That’s obvious. She was so delighted with her producers and the adorable boyfriend who was sort of affably out of the whole thing. She screeched at her mum in her South London twang, and if you haven’t watched her 60 minutes interview with Anderson you need to get on that, because no two people who are media professionals have spent so much time giggling together on camera. Hair Porn by Rihanna

What? Part Tina Turner, part Private Benjamin...and I like it?Oh, I not only like it, I am OBSESSED with it. All of it.It’s making my perm desires so much greater. But few people could do it like this. This well. This sexy. This badassy. This free. She looked f-cking AMAZING. The best she’s ever looked in my mind. Full Story
Gwyneth presents Adele

Not Coldplay. Of course not. Who was the most highly anticipated performance last night? The one expected to sweep every category for which she was nominated? The one making a triumphant return to music’s biggest night after throat surgery threatened her career? The one we were waiting for all week? And it was Gwyneth Paltrow who was given the honour of introducing Adele at the Grammys. Full Story
Be Angry with the Academy

I just want you to think about why it was okay. Why it was okay to have a man who beat a woman celebrated, not once but three times. So many people have to come together to make this happen. Dozens approve a lineup, more get to see it and raise any objections. Sponsors. Other agents and managers. Full Story
Katy Perry at the Grammys 2012
Jason Merritt/Kevin Winter/Getty
What an awful dress. Really, with everything available to you, you choose this? What does this say about what you want to do with your Grammy night? Katy Perry never chooses a dress by accident so she must want this to do something. Some sort of Betty Draper In Repose type thing, with the bouffant? I don’t know. Full Story
Eyelashes & Sparkles

Amazingly enough, I didn’t hate Country Bitch’s tricked out white dress she wore for the carpet. Comparatively, that is. From her, we’ve seen a lot worse. And it was better than the dark brown green, again bedazzled, situation she put on to perform with Tony Bennett. That...was not my favourite mash-up. Full Story
Taylor Swift and the surprises in life
Wenn, Kevin Winter/Jason Merritt/Getty
She looks quite good in a high collar, doesn’t she? But I didn’t love this Zuhair Murad dress. To me it was a cheap imitation of Alexander McQueen. Like McQueen for Stars On Ice. Still, she has a lovely neck. And when her hair is swept back, right off her face, as it was on the carpet, it’s a strong styling move. Full Story
A Pope & A Cape
Wenn, Kevin Winter/Jason Merritt/Getty
Full disclosure: I love a good cape. If only we could always walk around making entrances and exits with capes, I feel like we might all be more creative. That said, I hate that this red cape, customed by Donatella Versace for Nicki Minaj, may have been inspired by a really sh-tty movie starring Amanda Seyfried. Full Story
Alicia Keys & Bonnie Raitt

I liked the Grammy set. I should have said that. Did you freak out when they didn’t include Etta James in the In Memoriam package? A lot of people did. I assumed that this performance off the top -- one that I bet was in place before all the other events of this weekend -- was supposed to cover that off. Full Story
Lady Gaga sits
Wenn, Larry Busacca/ROBYN BECK/Getty
With her sceptre. It takes a certain dedication to be comfortable being uncomfortable. And for over three hours. I often think this of Victoria Beckham and her heels. How she suffers for her image. Same goes for Lady Gaga last night, crammed into that seat. With no reason, not one, to get up. That’s my way of saying she lost in every category. Full Story
