Don’t hide Snape in the back!
Check out these group shots of the members of the Harry Potter family who were in attendance last night at Lincoln Square for the FINAL FINAL FINAL carpet of the film franchise. Alan Rickman’s at the back! Don’t stick Snape in the back! Come to think of though, he probably wanted to stand in the back. Full Story
Snape & Jo! And ... they all say goodbye
Massive premiere in London today – the final, final, FINAL carpet for the Harry Potter series in the motherland. There will be a premiere in New York on Monday but ... Harry is English, England is the heart of it. And here they almost all are to say goodbye and thank you. No, thank YOU. F-ck me I am crying again. Full Story
I will never be ready
Two weeks ago tomorrow I went to an advance screening of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 and almost had to be carried out of the theatre. Laura, who was sitting next to me, said that at one point, she looked over and saw me in the fetal position. The next day I flew to New York to interview Daniel Radcliffe for the very last time, after five years of seeing him every year, sometimes twice. Full Story
The End is back to the Beginning
Are you ready for The End? It All Ends. Soon. I have seen The End, in 3D, and while I cannot tell you much about it yet (due to the studio’s embargo), what I can say is that I loved it, and that Laura loved it, and that I still haven’t recovered. Nerd? Totally. But yesterday Dean, who was cutting my interview with Daniel Radcliffe (the last one ever, sob!), took me to the edit suite to see how the story came together and I cried watching the clips, the old footage, when they were so little, integrated with the scenes from Harry Potter at the Deathly Hallows Part 2. Harry ... be safe, be strong
Strong? Jesus Lainey, pull yourself together. I came off the plane last night and a hundred emails told me that the new Harry Potter 7B trailer was finally online. First we had to drop off our sh-t, then it was to the hospital to see my ma, then our goddamn laptops wouldn’t play, and it was already after 1am, so I had to wait until this morning, which is why I had one of those sleeps, you know?, when it’s not fully sleep because you’re waiting to see something you want to see so badly? Giant nerd here. Full Story
What is Pottermore?
If you’re a Harry Potter nerd, you were likely caught up in it yesterday. If you missed it, click here for a backgrounder. So...what is it? JK Rowling launched the Pottermore site – here (note the Sorting Hat in the URL hee!) – but without much more information. Full Story
Always!
Poster of Snape for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows 2. You could say it’s just a poster but... It’s more than just a poster. Like, if there’s ever an expression to sum up what Snape is, why he is, to say, without words, that one word... ALWAYS! Isn’t this how you do? Again, again, again. Full Story
Ron in a word: Hot
I have friends, and I won’t out you Michelle, who’ve always had some “I shouldn’t be feeling this way” quiver about Rupert Grint/Ron Weasley. Never seen it myself…until now. Another Harry Potter moment that will make you cry. Steel yourselves. The cast members were asked to, for Empire (they had AMAZING access to promote the final), sum up their Harry Potter experience in One Word. Full Story
Please don’t go…
If there’s anything that turns me into a total nerd, it’s Harry Potter. And especially now that we’re so close to it being over, just 6 weeks out from the release of the final film, knowing …It all ends. Sob! And then a reader called Sarah J just sent me this, a letter written by Alan Rickman describing his emotions now that he’s said goodbye to Snape… Sob! Jo always says that the enduring message of the series is the power of love. Full Story
And it begins to end…
There have been teasers and posters and interviews etc, but not yet a proper trailer. Until yesterday. Yesterday the first proper trailer was released for HP 7B. Have you? If no, enjoy it here first. This is what I always say about this series and everything that’s associated with it; I call it the Spirit of Excellence. Full Story
Inside 3 months
Friday was exactly 3 months. Friday was also the day that the DVD for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 was released. And Harry Potter also covered the current issue of Entertainment Weekly. I am an Entertainment Weekly subscriber. Sometimes I worry that my magazines will get stolen depending on the cover stories. SOOOO cute
My friend Michelle C just sent this to me. It’s a deleted scene from Harry Potter 7A, on DVD April 11th, featuring Hermione and Ron throwing rocks into the sea. I agree with the editing, it’s totally superfluous, but I challenge you, as an HP fan, to watch this without giggling, or at least an awww-ish smile. Full Story
New scenes from 7B
A new first look video of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 the end forever and ever and ever was released the other day. I won’t be a nerd and catalogue all the new footage but OMG and SPOILERS, LOOK AWAY IF YOU HAVEN’T READ THE BOOKS. And, um, why haven’t you read the books? Fred!!! It’s so quick you miss it but even in that short time they’re able to draw out the emotion, non? I wonder if I’ll have to carried out of the theatre from grief. Full Story
Lourdes belongs to Gryffindor
Lourdes of Madonna went to school this morning in New York wearing a skull sweater over leggings and a Gryffindor toque. This kind of makes me love her mother a lot. That this girl, who is walking around in a cloud of her own cool, with the clothing line and the blog and the fame and the access, is still as into Harry Potter as she’s into black eyeliner.
