Ready for an hour of Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows? Look forward to reading your thoughts, what you loved, what you didn’t, what you wish was included, what fell flat, speculation about the next, and the glittery bodysuit too. As always please keep the racial business of my board. Sometimes I imagine the liveblog is like the Marauder’s Map and there’s a code phrase to open it: I solemnly swear that I’m a f-cking bitch. Full Story

It’s one of my favourite things about JK Rowling – that she truly knows her characters, that they behave the way they do because that is who they are. She doesn’t alter their choices to fit in with a plotline, she doesn’t force their decisions to get to an end goal. This is also the reason why her names always fit so perfectly. Full Story

On Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows Part 1

Please note that the following post is heavy on spoilers. Do you re-read them before you see them? I always do. Because I’m a nerd that way, yes, but also because it’s fascinating to see how even the smallest details are interpreted for the screen. I loved for example how Voldemort completely emasculates Lucius Malfoy when he takes his wand. Full Story

One more month

Today is October 19. So we’re exactly a month away. In exactly a month Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 hits theatres. Finally. And not in 3-D. Well good. I don’t give a sh-t that it’s not in 3-D. It’s never been about the D or the E or the F or any of that sh-t for me anyway. Full Story

New posters, regular Emma

No, motherf-cker, it is NOT November yet. It’s not even close to being November. And even in November it’s the third week. So we must satisfy ourselves with any crumbs we can get. New posters work for me. Several of them were released yesterday. Of course my favourite is Snape. If I had my own room and was banished there regularly I would totally have him on the back of my door. Full Story

It’s that standard of excellence again, remember? In her creation, JK Rowling offered us nothing but excellence. And thus prioritising excellence has been the objective of all of those who’ve been charged with the honour of bringing her material to life – in film form, in park form, in web form, in every form. Full Story

The best is generous

Love her so f-cking much. There’s a reason why Stephen King, and so many J.K. Rowling fans, took such offence to those early dumbass comparisons between Harry Potter and Twilight. One is gold, the other is ass, and it’s incredibly insulting to Jo’s great talent and her legacy to put her in the same sentence as that silly Stephenie Meyer. Full Story

Ginger, cherries, is it November yet?

Fack! But at least now it’s less than 3 months away. The release of Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows Part 1, what else? For now then Rupert Grint is promoting another project – the DVD release for his movie Cherrybomb today in London. Rupert apparently delivers a stirring and powerful performance in his penultimate turn as Ron Weasley. Full Story

Great Skin & Gay YA

As you know, I am all about reading YA. As I’ve noted, too many times, YA is way underrated. Good YA is as profound, complex, and insightful as any “adult” classified counterpart and again, if you don’t believe me, check out The Book Thief by Markus Zusak (YA) which is a masterpiece compared to Yann Martel – yeah, THAT Yann Martel – and Beatrice & Virgil, his latest smug mess. Full Story

100 days is still too long

It’s meant to tell us that we’re closer...but goddamn, it still feels like a long stretch: yesterday marked 100 days until the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1, the beginning of the end. Of course right now however, it’s time to market the sh-t out of it, starting with fan engagement, which is why Emma Watson was enlisted to promote the new Facebook page – click here to access Full Story

Where are you November?

I’m the asshole who almost cries every time I hear the Harry Potter theme music. You know those iconic notes right? They’re mysterious and exciting and sad and uplifting all at the same time. F-ck. Why can’t November be in August? From now until November, they will keep teasing us. Full Story
