Intro for April 1, 2013
In honour of our 10 years -- how has it been 10 years!?! -- without Leslie Cheung, I’ve been on a Chinese movie bender for almost a week. Finally got around to seeing Andy Lau’s version of What Women Want, which is garbage. So I palate-cleansed with Running On Karma, then went back to back on Love In A Puff and Love In The Buff (f-cking Hong Kong movie titles are so embarrassing. I would do this for free, by the way. I would title their movies for free just so we don’t have to deal with their sh-tty names.) and then finished with a Wong Kar-wai marathon: Days Of Being Wild, Chungking Express, Happy Together, In The Mood For Love, and finally Ashes Of Time.
Oh Leslie. In 2010, Leslie placed only behind Michael Jackson and The Beatles in the list of top 5 global icons. For an entire generation of us, and there are a lot of us, Asian or not, Leslie Cheung was our Justin Bieber. Except we never grew out of it.
So how was Game Of Thrones for you? The recap is coming later today. And The Walking Dead season finale. And Vampire Diaries. And more. But first... My Obsession!
