Intro for December 29, 2011
Have you seen the Meryl Streep tribute at the Kennedy Centre Honours? Meryl Streep is so great that her acting eclipsed her looks. Watching that old footage, it’s almost surprising how beautiful she is. Because, frankly, when she’s working, it’s the last thing you notice. Remarkable, isn’t it? Tell that to Jessica Biel who has, on several occasions, moaned about how her beauty is a burden to her (imagined) talent.
Robert DeNiro, a previous Kennedy Centre Honouree, was one of several celebrities who spoke during the Streep dedication. I kept thinking to myself...
But WHY ARE YOU IN NEW YEAR’s EVE? It occurred to me that Meryl doesn’t make movies like New Year’s Eve, throwaway movies where the paycheque is the only priority. One of you smartasses is about to cite The Devil Wears Prada. Please. She was nominated for an Oscar in The Devil Wears Prada. I promise you DeNiro will not be receiving an Oscar nomination for New Year’s Eve. And besides, The Devil Wears Prada was actually a pretty good movie. My favourite Meryl Streep movie is Kramer vs Kramer. Probably not a unique sentiment for those who grew up in divorce.
The video is below. We will talk about Anne Hathaway later.
More than 8 of you cared about the Original Supermodels and Karen Mulder! You know they’d probably consider Yasmeen Ghauri “too big in certain places” for the runway now...?
Yours in gossip,
