Intro for December 5, 2013
The hills are alive with The Sound Of Music… tonight on NBC. With Carrie Underwood as Maria and Stephen Moyer as the Captain…for three hours on a live telecast. And they really, really want you to know that it’s the play they’re doing and not the movie. Is that enough for you to tear yourself away from Olivia Pope? Which one is more “must-see”?
I think I might PVR The Sound Of Music and stay close to Scandal. Because that show moves at a deranged pace. And, well, it’s not like you don’t know what’s going to happen at the end of So Long, Farewell. Which apparently cost $9 million to produce. Word is they don’t expect to make their money on the first airing but, rather, on repeats. Like, the hope is that it’ll be broadcast every year, a proper holiday tradition. Which would mean that Carrie Underwood could become a holiday tradition. Does that mean they’ll stop airing the movie? Because I object.
Blossom of snow may you bloom and grow
Bloom and grow
Did you forget how hot Christopher Plummer was in the film? That sheepish little shrug at the end of the piece (the first time he sings it)? OMG he was a beast.
