Intro for October 11, 2013
Is it just me or did Scandal actually …slow down? A little? The show still moves at a ridiculous pace but I feel like we only blew through 4 plot developments instead of the 8 we were getting per episode last season. No? Still dementedly, indulgently frantic? Fine. Whatever. I’m not complaining. It’s been a few years since Thursdays were appointment television for me. Remember when Thursdays used to be the best night in TV? Scandal has restored that. And I don’t get squealy very often over Fitz but the look on his face – pride and arousal – when Olivia was blasting the administration during that press conference gave me stomach flips, and the good kind.
Today is the first ever International Day of the Girl. So we celebrate the incomparable Malala who is trying, pretty much all by herself, to make up for every bad thing that has ever happened by being brave and kind and BETTER all the time. Click here for more information on how you can participate in International Day of the Girl. And we celebrate Alice Munro who won the Nobel Prize in Literature yesterday, the first Canadian writer to do so. In her acceptance comments, she said she hoped that her achievement would serve to highlight more Canadian writers. 49thShelf is all about Canadian writers – a wonderful resource that makes is easier to discover Canadian books. It’s Canadian Thanksgiving this weekend. HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
