It’s been 15 years.

15 years!

PEOPLE Magazine is remembering JFK Jr and Carolyn Bessette in this week’s issue. Not much is new in the article, really, and besides…really…will it change what you think/thought? I was obsessed. Still am, actually. For both the gossip and the visual indulgence. He was the playboy. He was the perfect son of Camelot. He was American royalty fraternising with Hollywood and, eventually, capitulating to his mother’s objections. He looked the part. He even sounded the part. What a great voice he had, non? And, of course, he married the part. Together, JFK Jr and Carolyn Bessette were a f-cking DREAM. How? How could you not look at them? How could you not study every single pap photo released of them? I did.

This one?

It’s my favourite. Because I’d like to believe that this moment, no matter what, was real:

Come on. I don’t care how cynical you are. You’re telling me you could resist this?

And what about these almost perfect wedding photos because there was no Try at all, because there never needed to be?

It was a time of camel coats. Light v-neck sweaters over long skirts and boots. In 1998, this was the outfit that I pictured myself wearing in every one of my personal romantic comedies, basically Gwyneth Paltrow’s wardrobe in A Perfect Murder. And we all believed in Banana Republic for life.

She’d sit on his lap at all these major society dinners and it never, ever looked tacky. How did they do that?

Now compare the Cambridges, William and Catherine. It’s not even a conversation, is it? Not next to this:
