Janet Jackson became the first black woman to win the Billboard Icon Award last night. When do I get to stop writing the words “the first black woman to…”? Of course, Janet deserves all the things so it’s about time she was given this award. Janet performed for the first time on television in almost a decade and she still made almost every other artist half her age look like a hot mess. Full Story

This is the headline you will read all day and probably tomorrow. That, after leaving Janet Jackson for dead after the Super Bowl in 2004, Justin Timberlake and Janet Jackson actually “made peace”. Those aren’t the words that come of out his mouth though. Those are the words that Zane Lowe put in his mouth, to which he replies, “Absolutely”. Full Story

Janet Jackson was honoured at the OUT100 Gala in New York last night. She won a Music Icon Award, as she should. Janet Jackson is a music icon. This is not up for debate. Put some respect on her name. But no matter how much we glow up Janet on this site, the fact still remains that Janet Jackson hasn’t been awarded the respect she’s deserved in years. Full Story

Janet Jackson is currently on tour. Last week she performed in Chicago. And on Friday, accompanied by her brother Randy, she spent the day in Gary, Indiana where, of course, the Jacksons grew up. They visited their childhood home and she and Randy also stopped by Roosevelt High School to speak with students, talk about their memories of growing up in the area, and offer advice to kids about the music business.  Read Full Intro
