Time for a little real talk. Because meeting our goals is never easy. Nothing frustrates me more than my clients who pretend that they are doing their homework, whether it is the rehabilitation program their physiotherapist used or logging their food to help hold them accountable to eating well, which brings me to today’s challenge: take the blinders off and be honest with yourself about the lifestyle you are living vs the lifestyle you hope to live. Full Article

Hey Hayley, I think a lot of fitness articles and gurus don't realize that some people like their round curvaceous hips, though they have now accepted ample bums. I am a petite woman with a true hourglass figure that has recently put on weight in my midsection due to my fibroids just being raging assholes and yeah 6 months of nesting as a newlywed. Full Article

Dear Hayley, I just saw a photo of myself and realized that I need to lose 30lbs. It was a rude awakening. Since turning 30 a few years ago, the extra weight has crept on so slowly that I haven't even really noticed. My schedule is really busy (working, in the midst of a PhD, lots of volunteer commitments, healthy social life, etc. Full Article

Dear Hayley, I love(d) being outside - rock climbing, skiing, hiking, paddling. That's what I did to escape, have fun and be with friends. But the last few years I have spent most of my time sick or injured or recovering. In 2012, I tore the vertebral artery in my neck in a freak ski accident (getting off the chairlift) and had a stroke. Full Article

Hey Hayley! I've always been a class-based person because I love having an instructor and the energy of the group to feed off of. But... I have a tendency to push myself too hard in classes, which led to tendonitis in my shoulder. I went to PT for it and am cleared to exercise and have generally been pain-free for the last few years, but I’m mindful of not pushing myself too hard, especially when it comes to planks/pushups/etc. Full Article

Hi Hayley, I'm 39, I love the outdoors and I love paddling, swimming, hiking, surfing, and I recently got into Barre which is amazing. I've also struggled with my weight since I hit about 35 because while I don't drink, I have quite the sweet tooth. I'm 5'11 and weigh 180 right now, and though I have a lot of muscle I'm bigger than I want to be. Full Article

Hi Hayley, I know it shouldn't have taken death to make me open my eyes but that's how it happened and made everything in my life shift focus. A forty-year-old uncle of mine had a stroke and I couldn't believe it, he seemed so young. His BMI was definitely lower than mine. I went to my doctor and he told me that I can do any exercise I can handle and that I'm healthy as I can be for my weight (which isn't at all healthy). Full Article
