We are just about 5 months away from The Hunger Games movie in March. So far it’s been one step forward, one step back, particularly as it relates to casting. Lionsgate has released 8 character posters to start building momentum. There’s a lot of photoshopping and skin doctoring happening here. And still, I don’t hate it. Full Story

Catching Fire 2013

The Hunger Games is due in theatres in 7 months. They’re still shooting. It kinda worries me how much time they’ll have in post, and whether or not the CGI parts will be up to level, but I suppose, if the emotional urgency of the story is properly conveyed, it doesn’t really matter how real the arena looks. Full Story

Katniss, Gale, Prim!

From North Carolina and the set of The Hunger Games – here are Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth, Willow Shields, and author Suzanne Collins continuing production on the film. Good. Because with a March release date, and some work to be done in post, I feel like it may have been getting a little tight. Full Story

Lawrence on Letterman

Lainey Posted by Lainey at May 20, 2011 08:03:46 May 20, 2011 08:03:46

Jennifer Lawrence appeared on Letterman last night. It was a great interview. 20 years old and she laid down an awesome interview on Letterman that earned her a kiss on the hand. Well done. She’s poised but she’s not, like, overly produced and automatic. She’s not Taylor Lautner, she’s not Dakota Fanning, she’s not from Disney, there’s personality there, and a lot of wit, and a brain – quick, funny, confident, but not cocky, incredibly sexy… and you can tell, Dave was charmed. Full Story

Lainey Posted by Lainey at May 19, 2011 07:15:04 May 19, 2011 07:15:04

So this is what happened when I was in flight yesterday. Entertainment Weekly has the exclusive first look at Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen in the movie adaptation of The Hunger Games. Thank you for your emails and your reactions. And my reaction? Medium. Does that count as a reaction? I think they’re going in the right direction. Full Story

Jennifer Lawrence’s Oscar philly steak

ELLE has a new a feature on Jennifer Lawrence. She’s starting promotion for X-Men: First Class. Remember the red Baywatchy dress she wore at the Oscars? She says she got into it with a philly steak sandwich:“Fifteen minutes before, the guy doing my hair goes, ‘If you can get a salad, get a salad…I said, ‘I’m getting a Philly cheesesteak. Full Story

Errr… I feel like I may have been reading a different book series. Lionsgate confirmed today that they’ve chosen the two male leads in The Hunger Games films: Josh Hutcherson will play Peeta, Liam Hemsworth Gale. Sarah from Cinesnark Full Story

Young vs. old Hunger Games

Lainey Posted by Lainey at March 14, 2011 06:27:41 March 14, 2011 06:27:41

Written by Sarah I’ve been saying for the past year that sixteen-year-old Saorise Ronan should be Katniss, and after seeing her in True Grit, I also thought that fourteen-year-old Hailee Steinfeld would also make a good Katniss. Full Story

Two Katnisses

Well this is interesting. Today in Paris at Miu Miu, Jennifer Lawrence and Hailee Steinfeld, both vying for the role of Katniss in The Hunger Games, turned up for the show. I’m sorry…I know we’re fighting on this, but Hailee still isn’t my Katniss Everdeen. I’ve been trying. Full Story

Katniss casting update

Lainey Posted by Lainey at March 3, 2011 09:29:00 March 3, 2011 09:29:00

Exclusive I was the first to report yesterday that Jennifer Lawrence has emerged as the frontrunner for the role of Katniss in the film adaptation of The Hunger Games. Several hours later, just before the end of the business day, Variety posted the same, confirming my initial story that Lawrence has indeed “generated the most interest” even though they listed Hailee Steinfeld and Abigail Breslin as possible contenders too. Full Story
