Emma before Jon

It’s almost unfair. If they had given Emma Stone better material to work with on Saturday Night Live, she would have been amazing. But they didn’t and it wasn’t it. And this week it’s Jon Hamm for his third time. Jon is never not good. Chances are he’ll be good. Which sucks for poor Emma because the comparison is so fresh. Full Story

So that happened.

Written by Duana Lainey called last night around 9:30 and I cautioned her that I couldn’t talk long, Mad Men was soon. I remember saying, in so many words, that I felt ‘nervous and anticipatory’. She knew what I meant but we still marveled over it – that a television show fictional, no less, can elicit this kind of reaction. Full Story

Live with Jon Hamm

As noted earlier, tonight’s 30 Rock will go live. Twice. And both Jon Hamm and Matt Damon will be making guest appearances. Obviously then, Hamm is returning as Dumb Drew. I really love when Liz’s boyfriends get together. Dream, real, whatever, I don’t care. Is Michael Sheen coming along? Please. Full Story

Who Do You Know?

Written by Duana I don't think it’s an accident that so many guys are in love with Sally Draper. Not in a creepy way, but ask the average 30 something male Mad Men viewer and he will talk about Sally Draper with a sort of sad affection, half-paternal and half-loving, because guys have met girls like this before: intrinsically sweet, but beaten down by the basic unfairnesses of life, doesn't trust her own instincts as much anymore (because if we follow the Sally story I can guarantee that's where it's all going), that girl who's always a bit sad. Full Story

Redford & Hamm

Didn’t think you’d have a problem seeing photos of Jon Hamm every day in Europe. He’s really been hustling out there. They’re still in Cannes for MIPCOM, he and Elisabeth Moss, today with Robert Redford in support of the Sundance Channel. Sundance, January, Howl, Ginsberg, the Beats, Kerouac, On the Road, I love it when a proper sentence isn’t necessary. Full Story

French Riviera Lighting

Whatever is happening today in Cannes, it’s producing beautiful photographs, goddamn. Not that it’s a challenge to shoot Jon Hamm, of course not. But an extra beautiful Jon Hamm is nothing to complain about. And look what this French Riviera lighting is doing for Elisabeth Moss. Her skin, it’s radiant. Full Story

When You Are Engulfed In Flames

Written by Duana It’s not a Mad Men reference, it’s a David Sedaris one. But it might well have worked for this week’s episode. When the true sh-t rolls down, you will know a person by the way they weather the storm. Despite the action-packedness that was this episode, I didn’t feel like it told us a lot that was new about the people we love. Full Story

Jon Hamm is everywhere

With Justin Timberlake, it’s too much. Get out of my face. Jon Hamm on the other hand, well, don’t go, please stay. He can currently be seen in Mad Men, though the season is rapidly coming to a close. He’s in theatres now in The Town and also in Howl, both critically acclaimed. Which obviously means he’s pounding the press circuit, everywhere and everything. Full Story

No Third Option

Written by Duana Oh man. I say it too often, but buckle up. The week we just had at SDCP was enough to make me apologize for ever even thinking my life was boring, if the alternative is this. While last week showed us these beautiful girls – and the lives they have to navigate because of some men – this week explores these men in all their messed-up, petulant glory. Full Story

Jon Hamm weekend send-off

A lot of you were yelling at me yesterday for the Jon Hamm post. Apparently you have work to do? Well it’s Friday. You can f-ck around a little on Friday, can’t you? Jon Hamm spent the week promoting The Town. So he’s visible. And there are photos. And yesterday he was in New York, as handsome as ever, so how can I not post? The Town is currently the most well reviewed new release this week, impressively sitting at 91% on Rotten Tomatoes and a more moderate, but still strong, 76% on Metacritic Full Story
