June 12, 2015 – Smutty Shout-Outs
A generous donor has put up $100,000 in matching funds in support of Covenant House Vancouver. This means that every dollar you give will be DOUBLED. And that makes a huge difference in the lives of young women like Jennie. I worked with Jennie when I was a full-time development officer at Covenant House a few years ago. She’d been living on and off the streets since she was 10. She was bounced around at over 20 elementary schools. She’d been abused, neglected, and unloved. At 19, she left foster care and had nothing. Then she found us at Covenant House. This is how she describes her time with us:
“Covenant House was the first place I’ve ever lived that I was safe and nobody could hurt me here. It’s the first place that I’ve ever felt that kind of sense of belonging, it’s the first place I’ve ever had a home.”
Now? Jennie is independent. Jennie rebuilt her life. And Covenant House Vancouver is honoured to have been a part of that. Please click here to join our Matching Gift Challenge.
“Happy Birthday to my friend Cheryl with whom I share a love of hot hockey players, great TV shows and all things Charlie Hunnam. Don’t think I didn’t notice that 2 of your top 3 Freebie Five guys are Canadian so here’s your current research project Antoine Vermette, some vintage Tim Riggins and of course, our shared #1 Charlie. GO BLACKHAWKS!!!” - Kim
