Ladies at the luncheon
Today was the annual Academy Awards Nominee Luncheon. Notably absent: George Clooney. It’s a non-campaign year for Clooney. Looks like he’s conceding early to Jeff Bridges. But enough of the boys. Let’s talk about our girls.
GO Kathryn Bigelow, poised to become the first woman ever to win an Oscar for directing and a movie about war, no less. Fist pumps all around. GO Meryl Streep for breaking records, box office milestones, and for representing capable. GO Sandy B for getting ahead by being nice and not in a horizontal way. GO Gabby for an injection of true self confidence in a town full of insecure bitches. GO Maggie for putting interesting before sexy and being sexy for being interesting, GO Vera for auditioning on her own terms, GO Anna for going beyond Twilight, GO Carey for going platinum. I love it.
These are the women of the Oscars.
The Oscars! 3 weeks away!
There is no rest. When the Olympics wrap, we head to LA straight away for Oscar weekend! Am treating it like a reward.
NB - Clooney was actually at the luncheon but chose not to pose for carpet photos.
