Gaga for Gaga!
Lady Gaga arrived at the MTV VMAs with Kermit the Frog, which was genius, considering a few months ago, she wore an entire ensemble made completely out of Kermit the Frog heads.
I love this lady’s fashion sense and artistry. She writes her own songs, writes for other people, designs her own clothes, has a great singing voice, and is a true original. Arriving in a Jean Paul Gaultier number, dressed up with feathers, a giant necklace, a gold Phantom of the Opera mask, and half a pound of glitter, Lady Gaga would go on to three more costume changes throughout the evening.
In her dramatic and bloody performance of Paparazzi, not only did she dance, sing live, and play the piano, but she ended up swinging from the ceiling by the end of it as a lifeless corpse, wowing the audience with one of the most creative performances of the night.
Her next costume was that Queen of Hearts from Hell getup she had on when she went on stage to accept the award for Best New Artist. Loved when she shouted out, “This is for God and for the gays!” while Eminem stood uncomfortably behind, biting his cheek. Is Eminem even relevant anymore? I’d never heard of his song until this show. Maybe he and J. Lo should get together and do a “We’re still here!” album.
The final outfit Lady Gaga pulled out for the night was that white Christmas wreath she had wrapped around her head. Brilliance. Merry Christmas, indeed!
