Girls Season 1 Episode 6The Girls first season will be 10 episodes. That's a small order. It's not so unusual with cable, some shows get as few as 6 episodes, but it's small. You barely get to know your characters, it takes time to flesh everyone out, and then boom, you're at the end of your run. A short series most often means, too, that all the episodes were written and produced and in the can before the first one ever aired, so there's no way to take stock of the audience reaction and adjust; then again, taking too much stock too early on means you might lose your own voice listening to theirs. Full Story

Girls Season 1 Episode 4 recapThe naming of Jessa's young charges on this show is a triumph. I'm not being tongue in cheek at all. Lola and Beatrix. The names fit perfectly. Demographically, historically, the names are even well spaced, as they would have been popular at the exact times each girl was born. Full Story

Girls Season 1 Episode 3 recap(Girls has just been picked up for a second season.)We need a 2 minute “previously on Girls”?  There's only been 60 minutes of Girls so far, total. So how are you feeling about these people?  These young women?  I have to admit that the show is getting better at being more cohesive; I have a better picture of what these girls' lives look like (the mentioned-and-dropped rent was the part that got me), and slightly more interest in who Hannah will be . Full Story
