Hey Duana, My work bestie is having a baby due in December, and while there is plenty of time, she (and myself) have been racking our brains at work everyday throwing out names and evaluating. She doesn't know what she is having yet. She also has a daughter named Julia, and wants a name that will match/compliment. Full Article

Carpets & Candids: Zendaya’s big sleeves

This dress comes off the shoulder and into low wide flowing sleeves. Which kinda mutes the impact of the cut-outs. So I’m into it. But I’m not into the white print. There’s just so much of it. And the print itself, it’s so close together, you know? There are no gaps in the flowers. Full Article

Naomie Harris wore the most amazing silver suit earlier this week and here’s Solange in a much more esoteric one. Where the details in Naomie’s appealed to both traditionalists and the edgy, Solange’s is straight up non-conformist in the mismatched jacket and especially the shape of the pants. Full Article

Jesus. Now this is a f-cking suit. A full silver suit that is helped by the pattern on the material so that it has some texture to it without looking like a flat sheet of metal, which I wouldn't have minded anyway but the way it's done here, it steps away from being too punk and hits just enough on the side of elegance so that it appeals to both the traditional style watchers and those who prefer an edgier vibe. Full Article

Smutty Fitness: CrossFit etc

Hi Hayley! I've been doing CrossFit for about three years and I love it, 3-4 times a week. The reason why I enjoy CrossFit is because the workouts are different every time. I used to run and every time I would run I would experience foot pain or knee pain, which I don't get with CrossFit.  My question is, how do I incorporate some sort of cardio in my life? I notice that CrossFit is starting to make my body look a certain way and make my clothes fit differently (broader shoulders, larger quads). Full Article

Duana Names: To Pin Down The Twang

Duana Posted by Duana at November 2, 2016 20:49:34 November 2, 2016 20:49:34

Hi Duana, My husband and I are expecting our first baby in early November and are hitting a bit of a wall on names. We were in agreement about baby girl names for the most part (Dorothy/Dotty as a front runner) and only found out the gender because we were pretty divided on boy names. As fate would have it, we're having a boy! On paper it should be simple, we both seem to like southern names. Full Article

Carpets & Candids: Keira’s green tulle

Sad to say I don’t like this dress, not at all. And I like so much of what Keira Knightley wears. But the tulle looks weird around the neck and the chest. And, UGH, it’s sheer on purpose so you can see the shorter beige slip underneath and the black pumps are doing nothing for any of the colours. Full Article

Duana Names: A New Name

Duana Posted by Duana at October 31, 2016 21:12:42 October 31, 2016 21:12:42

Dear Duana, My name is Laura and I am writing to you about a bit of a downer - still with joy and excitement in my heart, and a little off topic. Maybe a lot off topic. I don't need help naming a baby - I need help legally renaming myself. Firstly, I read your articles every day. I love children, babies, and the satisfaction and beauty that goes with naming! I am fascinated by people and their stories and their names. Full Article

Carpets & Candids: Zoe’s snakes

A good example of the idea being better than the execution. I like the snakes and the other images embroidered onto this dress. But the dress itself looks sloppy, the material is lumping and bulging, and for Gucci, it doesn’t feel high end, it feels almost like an amateur submission. And, in these times, kinda Halloween costumey, like what you’d find in a party shoppe under “princess” dress. Full Article
