To me, the defining detail of this look is that it’s a turtleneck. Imagine how different, less special, this would be if the neck was cut differently. Also gorgeous is the way the top flares out at the bottom so that it looks like the backs of seashells. I don’t know how comfortable all this would have been to wear but the effect is gorgeous. Full Article

Duana Names: What would Proust say?

Duana Posted by Duana at March 14, 2016 20:25:18 March 14, 2016 20:25:18

Madeleine has made its way into consideration, but debate over pronunciation and spelling is cloudy the decision. I understand Madeleine is the classic, French spelling, and Madeline the English spelling? My question is: are these all the same name, or are they different? I would have pronounced all of the above Mad-uh-lin but perhaps that was incorrect. Full Article

What if you like your dress but you don’t love it? You make it about the hair. This is what I see happening here. The dress is fine. It’s black, it’s tight, it doesn’t offend but it doesn’t delight. The hair, however, is amazing. Especially considering that it’s cropped short on the sides and floppy long on top, which you’d think would present limitations. Full Article

Carpets & Candids: Lea’s falling ruffle

Can’t decide if I’m into what’s happening here. A little black dress made slightly more interesting by a giant ruffle attached to the breast that appears to be falling off one side… I don’t think I hate it. But probably because of the colour. It make it a lot less jarring and sloppy. Full Article

If it were another Zooey wearing this outfit, I’d be drowning in teacups. But being that it’s Zoe Kazan, it doesn’t annoy me at all and I love this outfit and I want it badly and is that unfair?  Full Article

Sasha Finds: A New Backpack

Sasha Posted by Sasha at March 11, 2016 21:34:35 March 11, 2016 21:34:35

I think the fashion request I get the most is for a backpack. There's a butt-load of you out there who want to trade in that good ol’ Jansport for something a bit more mature while still keeping it functional. Hold on to your tits because I think I've found you all a goodie!  I give you Moop... Full Article

Duana Names: Names for Adults

Duana Posted by Duana at March 11, 2016 21:01:15 March 11, 2016 21:01:15

Hi Duana, Where to begin? We already have gorgeous Felix (almost 3) in our lives and with him we were somehow able to agree on the name no problem. Now we don't know the gender of baby number two who arrives in 4 weeks and we are having difficulties with both boy and girl names. It's the girl names that I am really struggling with, as my husband likes flowery, girly, cute names like Daisy, Scarlett, Clover and I just want a girl's name that inspires - if it is a girl then I want her to have a name that shows strength and tenacity. Full Article

Good dress. It’s Lupita. She’s a standard for herself. But… This kitten heel is killing me. It’s especially unattractive from the front and side. Even she can’t save it.  Full Article

Hi Hayley, I've never been a terribly active person, but I'm trying really hard to change. Unfortunately, having been sedentary for many years means that I'm terribly out of shape. I've started doing all the standard things: taking the stairs more, walking where I would normally take the bus, etc. Full Article

Duana Names: On Earworms, Eventual Boys, and Kids TV

Duana Posted by Duana at March 9, 2016 21:17:06 March 9, 2016 21:17:06

Duana, We are expecting baby #4 in March.... and we learned that it is a boy! This is brand new territory for us, as we have 3 girls at home. With all our previous pregnancies, we did not find out the gender & always walked into the hospital for delivery with confidence in our girl names; still debating about boy names through the contractions. Full Article
