Duana Names: Can a Nickname Just Be A Name?

Duana Posted by Duana at March 18, 2016 19:31:18 March 18, 2016 19:31:18

Hi Duana, I’ve had this name question for awhile now, but didn’t want to write in until we had reason to, being superstitious and all (no jinx!). My husband and I are now expecting a little boy and the timing is right for my question! We are heavily leaning towards naming our son after my husband. Full Article

Duana Names: Am I Naive?

Duana Posted by Duana at March 16, 2016 21:03:10 March 16, 2016 21:03:10

We are expecting our first girl in early summer. To date, we have put a few names on a short list but have yet to decide on one. We both have names that were of average popularity in the late 70’s and early 80’s, and our surname is now a very popular first name that, unfortunately, is commonly bastardized with the use of an “x”. Full Article

There are a lot of these dresses happening right now. Sheer on top, sheer on the bottom, sheer everywhere… it’s getting boring. This is one of the best I’ve seen that combines mesh and lace and even a little fringe. Because of the way it fits. It’s not body-con. It doesn’t have to be. Full Article

Smutty Fitness: 30 after 30

Hayley Posted by Hayley at March 16, 2016 16:11:33 March 16, 2016 16:11:33

Dear Hayley, I just saw a photo of myself and realized that I need to lose 30lbs. It was a rude awakening. Since turning 30 a few years ago, the extra weight has crept on so slowly that I haven't even really noticed. My schedule is really busy (working, in the midst of a PhD, lots of volunteer commitments, healthy social life, etc. Full Article

Carpets & Candids: Naomi’s full body sparkle

To me, the defining detail of this look is that it’s a turtleneck. Imagine how different, less special, this would be if the neck was cut differently. Also gorgeous is the way the top flares out at the bottom so that it looks like the backs of seashells. I don’t know how comfortable all this would have been to wear but the effect is gorgeous. Full Article

Duana Posted by Duana at March 14, 2016 20:25:18 March 14, 2016 20:25:18

Madeleine has made its way into consideration, but debate over pronunciation and spelling is cloudy the decision. I understand Madeleine is the classic, French spelling, and Madeline the English spelling? My question is: are these all the same name, or are they different? I would have pronounced all of the above Mad-uh-lin but perhaps that was incorrect. Full Article

What if you like your dress but you don’t love it? You make it about the hair. This is what I see happening here. The dress is fine. It’s black, it’s tight, it doesn’t offend but it doesn’t delight. The hair, however, is amazing. Especially considering that it’s cropped short on the sides and floppy long on top, which you’d think would present limitations. Full Article

Carpets & Candids: Lea’s falling ruffle

Lainey Posted by Lainey at March 14, 2016 16:47:42 March 14, 2016 16:47:42

Can’t decide if I’m into what’s happening here. A little black dress made slightly more interesting by a giant ruffle attached to the breast that appears to be falling off one side… I don’t think I hate it. But probably because of the colour. It make it a lot less jarring and sloppy. Full Article
