Nobody's saying Channing Tatum can't pull his weight. But with Foxcatcher, in walks a real contender: an all-around movie star and actor. Tatum plays Olympic Gold Medal-winning wrestler Mark Schultz, who walks into a room, shoulders first, with his jaw always clenched. Naive and living a mostly solitary life, he trains with his brother, a fellow celebrated wrestler, Dave (Mark Ruffalo), then comes home to a bowl of Ramen. Full Story
Sasha was working in the etalk TIFF lounge yesterday and taunted me with some Mark Ruffalo. He came in for an interview.
Her text: Mark Ruffalo kissed me.
I’m telling you. I have to keep telling you. Everybody loves Mark Ruffalo. A friend of mine spent almost an hour talking to him this weekend at a party and he was the nicest and sweetest and super fun and that’s all it was – noooooo hint of more, not a sniff of anything pervy. He totally doesn’t put that out there. He is not that guy.
But I got Sasha back. Because last night I decided to stop in at the Trump Lobby bar before heading into the Grey Goose afterparty for 99 Homes and there he was, hanging with Channing Tatum, in a small group. Read Full Intro

All the Sherlocks are cupping each other today over Benedict Cumberbatch’s win. And I got yelled at for saying on the liveblog that I don’t live in a world where Benedict Cumberbatch > Mark Ruffalo. Sorry. The show is fiiiiiiiine. I just don’t have the acquired taste. And if Mark Ruffalo’s part of that conversation, that’s the only flavour I’m interested in. Full Story

First, Marvel’s panel started nearly twenty minutes late. Then, they didn’t announce anything new, except that the Guardians of the Galaxy’s pre-destined sequel will open on July 28, 2017. There was no news on Dr. Strange, or long-awaited confirmation of a Black Panther and/or Captain Marvel movie. Full Story

At the Foxcatcher photo call today in Cannes – Mark Ruffalo, Channing Tatum, Steve Carell, with director Bennett Miller ahead of the big premiere and looking very confident after the press screenings. Miller delivers great work, work that’s worth waiting for. Last time it was Moneyball which went on to receive several Oscar nominations. Full Story
The first trailer for Ryan Murphy’s The Normal Heart was released this weekend. The film premieres on HBO on May 25th. Mark Ruffalo, Taylor Kitsch, Matt Bomer, and Julia Roberts in a wheelchair. I can’t wait to see this. Not only because MARK RUFFALO but because for those of us who grew up 80s, who lived through the onset of AIDS/HIV, this is the story to tell. Full Story
It’s all about timing, isn’t it? We accept that celebrities have a platform, and that they’re asked to use it at every opportunity. You’ve heard the expression "they can’t say yes to everything" but I actually think it’s worth mentioning how often celebs are approached by their state senates, their high schools, their local rotary clubs – anyone who can claim the tiniest piece of you will ask for some. I know I don’t need to explain to you why this is a celebration. Any day that includes Mark Ruffalo is a celebration. Ruffalo was on the set of The Normal Heart in New York yesterday with Matt Bomer. Bonus! The Normal Heart also features Taylor Kitsch and tells the story of one man’s experience with the AIDS crisis in the 80s. Full Story
They were in The Avengers together, but not really. It’s been 10 years since View From The Top. Is that all? I feel like my G would want it to be longer. So that she/we could forget. Gwyneth Paltrow and Mark Ruffalo worked together on View From The Top. And they worked together again on Thanks For Sharing which will finally be released in September so… I guess that’s why Vanity Fair is profiling/maybe slam-piecing her? G once said of her role in View From The Top that: "I'm in underwear for half the movie. Full Story
Thanks for all your emails and tweets yesterday in response to the Oscar wrap-up. Duana and I finally crashed last night around 11pm after dinner with friends at Cooks County where we saw Mark Ruffalo which reminded us...
We didn’t write about Mark Ruffalo!
So we’re making it up to Mark Ruffalo here in the open because he’s the best, even though that Avengers bit was kinda flat -- blame the overall poor direction of the show. There were 5 of them on stage, bookended by RDJ and Sam Jackson and even though that might be hard to frame, when the joke references both of them, it would have been better to give us a wide shot to see both reactions, right?
Still, it didn’t seem to matter. Read Full Intro

The Academy sent out a press release this morning announcing that the cast of The Avengers—RDJ, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Chris Evans and Samuel L. Jackson—will be presenting at the Oscars. There are a couple noticeable absences, though. Scarlett Johansson, who’s currently on Broadway so it’s conceivable she couldn’t take the time off, but where in the world is Chris Hemsworth? He has his own franchise and Thor 2 is opening later this year. Full Story
