The one that won’t suck

Mark Harris wrote a great article in the last issue of Entertainment Weekly about the piss poor offering at the movies this year. As in quality. This is not about the box office, this is about good films. And there haven’t been many. So few that How to Train Your Dragon is one of the only ones that’s top of mind. Full Story

Mark’s back

Lainey Posted by Lainey at February 12, 2010 14:06:35 February 12, 2010 14:06:35

Mark Ruffalo arrived in Berlin today presumably to promote Shutter Island with Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio. He’s gradually edging back into the public eye following the death of his brother. Last year Mark went ahead on production of his Sympathy for Delicious which recently screened at Sundance. Full Story

So nice to see you again

Mark Ruffalo. He’s kept a very low profile this year but can be seen briefly in Where The Wild Things Are and was spotted running errands yesterday in Beverly Hills. Looks good, non? Everyone likes Mark Ruffalo. Have never heard anything against him, all journalists enjoy him, he is delightful and sweet and funny and smart and really hot in The Brothers Bloom which is available on DVD now and you should watch it, and three years ago at TIFF, when Joaquin Phoenix was a f-cking mess, it was Mark who kept telling him to go home, to take it easy, who kept his arm around him and held him up, who affectionately protected him and teased him and lightened his mood. Full Story

Three Whiskers got a job!

It’s been a long, long time. And he owes Mark Ruffalo. Mark is directing a new film called Sympathy for Delicious and because he’s the sweetest guy ever has charitably offered Orlando Bloom a part. But can Orly keep up? Delicious also stars the underrated Laura Linney who, obviously, can act circles around Orly’s pretty (but useless) little ass. Full Story

Mark, Amanda, and Troy

Ethan Hawke was at the roof lounge at the Hyatt two nights ago, possibly last night too but my toes refused to cooperate. Michelle, who has been in love with Troy Dyer since 1994 lost her sh*t a little bit. He did look good. Gaunt…but good. And not even smarmy. Wasn’t working on an erotic poem scribbled hastily on a bar napkin. Full Story

TIFF Blooms

Lainey Posted by Lainey at September 10, 2008 13:10:11 September 10, 2008 13:10:11

Mark Ruffalo has like 8,000 movies in the festival this year! Seriously…he’s a busy dude. But so underrated. By all accounts he is delightful in The Brothers Bloom which premiered last night at TIFF. Haven’t had a chance to screen it but I can’t imagine that Mark and Adrien Brody together for 2 hours will be terribly tough to endure. Full Story

TIFF Besties: Mark Ruffalo & Adrien Brody

Lainey Posted by Lainey at September 8, 2008 12:47:20 September 8, 2008 12:47:20

There are few actors who are liked by EVERYONE. And there is no journalist or publicist I’ve talked to in two years at TIFF who has anything negative to say about Mark Ruffalo. He’s a doll. So nice and so kind and so considerate and so normal and SO in love with his wife. eTalk hosted the official Blindness after party on Saturday at our headquarters at 299 Queen. Full Story

Cate in Pink

Lainey Posted by Lainey at September 19, 2007 13:42:29 September 19, 2007 13:42:29

I was greatly disappointed not to have seen Cate Blanchett at TIFF and sadly wasn’t able to attend the screening either. However, early reviews for The Golden Age have been decidedly mixed and while her repeat performance at Elizabeth is undoubtedly strong, it is actually her portrayal of Bob Dylan in I’m Not There that is garnering the most attention, not to mention the inspiration behind Mark Ruffalo’s hilarious outburst Full Story

Late on the Bandwagon

Lainey Posted by Lainey at September 13, 2007 15:11:00 September 13, 2007 15:11:00

Mark Ruffalo –I apologise for sucking. For being late on the bandwagon. For taking so long to figure it out. But now that I have… I love him. He is divine. One of the most engaging, most endearing, loveliest celebrities out there, maybe because fame came late. Maybe because he was allowed to be an actor instead of a star like George Clooney, who told my colleague Ben Mulroney that if he had hit it big before his 30s, he would be shooting crack into his head. Full Story

Joaquin at the Window

Lainey Posted by Lainey at September 12, 2007 13:32:57 September 12, 2007 13:32:57

Am in my room at the Intercon looking out the window. There’s a terrace one floor below. Jaoquin Poenix and Mark Ruffalo – I can almost touch them. Like literally open the window and speak without raising my voice and he could hear me. Should I ask him why he’s so bloated and tell him that he looks rough? Truthfully though, even still, he’s still pretty f*&in’ sexy. Full Story
