May 8, 2015 – Smutty Shout-Outs
Nancy! Happy Mother’s Day from Natasha! By request, here’s Jake Gyllenhaal. I have new photos of him that I’ll be posting in a separate article later today too.
The Annual Family Conference "Family Involvement in Mental Health and Addiction Services" takes place each year at Vancouver General Hospital and presents groundbreaking clinical and practical information for family members, mental health and addiction service users and professionals.
This year, on Saturday, May 23rd, the conference is dedicated to the memory of Jude Swanson and will focus on ‘recovery’. Health professionals, service users and family members will speak on topics related to recovery-oriented care, medications for mental illness and addiction, a toolkit for families who have a loved one struggling with concurrent illness as well as information about access to mental health programs and services in Vancouver.
This funding campaign is seeking to raise $2500 to create a bursary so that families who are unable to afford the cost of a ticket may attend for free.
As Jude once said, “It’s important to see real people who have struggled with mental illness who are not ashamed and are doing well. For patients, knowing that you’re not alone is very important. When you’ve had the opportunity to share and contribute, you become invested.”
