Amy Pascal was at the Women in the World conference yesterday. Pascal, of course, was head of Sony during the big Gossip Dump of 2014 when all those hacked emails were released. As Sarah wrote last week (click here for a refresher), it was recently announced that she’s leaving Sony but is heading up independent production in collaboration with the studio. Full Story

Presenter but not Nominee

WENN

The Academy confirmed yesterday that Jennifer Aniston will present at the Oscars. A presenter… but not a nominee. Gracious to accept the invitation on her part, sure. But, really, what choice did she have? If she declined, she’d look to them like a petty asshole, and they’d probably lock her out again if the opportunity ever presented itself. Full Story

Jon Stewart has hosted The Daily Show for sixteen years. During that time he’s evolved that show from a celebrity-driven late night talk show to an actual news source, seen three presidents come and go, reported on two wars, the worst terrorist attack in US history, and countless national tragedies. Full Story

The timing of the Conscious Uncoupling

According to the Daily Mail (so I don’t blame you if you snort at the authenticity of this post), Gwyneth Paltrow intimated to Marie Claire that she and Chris Martin actually separated a year before the conscious uncoupling announcement and that she was actually subtly asking Johnny Depp about how it worked for him when he and Vanessa Paradis split up. Full Story

Huge Coup: Marvel reclaims Spider-Man

Sarah Posted by Sarah at February 10, 2015 16:42:27 February 10, 2015 16:42:27

Late last night Marvel Studios dropped a bomb: They’ve worked out a deal with Sony and will take over production of future Spider-Man movies. This is a huge deal, literally and figuratively, that will have repercussions for a lot of people, and especially Andrew Garfield, who is now out of a job Full Story

The Jolie, the twins, and Captain Marvel?

Let’s start with Captain Marvel. There’s a rumour floating around that Marvel is considering asking Angelina Jolie to direct Captain Marvel. Supposedly they’re impressed with her work on Unbroken and they want a female director bossing the female superhero movie. Which is exciting…but… The source. Full Story

Beyonce posted some new shots of her and JayZ from after the Grammys on her website and Insta today. I’m also attaching shots of the Carters on Saturday at the Roc Nation/Three Six Zero pre-Grammy brunch in Beverly Hills. Rihanna was there. Kanye West too. Kylie Minogue. Joe Jonas. The Smith kids. Full Story

It seems like these two are never not together. Gwyneth Paltrow presented. Chris Martin performed. And you can see him I think in the background of one of these shots of her. G, obviously, was there for her “beautiful friend” Beyonce. That’s no accident either. While there were complaints about her presence to introduce B’s performance, you have to know that she would have only been invited on the approval and probable recommendation of Beysus herself. Full Story

We have two races

Boyhood won the BAFTA last night. But on Saturday, the Directors Guild picked Birdman. The DGAs are considered a very, very, VERY good predictor of Oscar Best Picture; only 7 times in history have the DGA and the Academy picked differently. Even still, Boyhood has its share of support. So with a week to go before the voting period closes, it’s a legitimate race. Full Story

Superman and Captain America stand next to each other

Yesterday at the BAFTAs Chris Evans and Henry Cavill presented Julianne Moore with the Best Actress award. Two handsome men of the superhero persuasion stood next to each other, and the internet collectively lost its sh*t. It’s understandable—they’re both really, really, really ridiculously good-looking, though Beardy Chris Evans is working the facial hair better than Cavill. Full Story
