Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling are working on their third film together called La La Land directed by Damien Chazelle. You know him from Whiplash. And Miles Teller recently told ESQUIRE that Ryan’s role was originally supposed to be for him but Damien changed his mind, saying he was no longer right for it. Full Story

When Henry Cavill first started doing press, for stuff like The Tudors and Immortals, he was a big ol’ dork who talked about fantasy novels, and he was quite charming as a nerdy kid who grew up to be super hot but was still dorky on the inside. But as his star rose—especially once he was fed to the ravening superhero machine—the dorkiness and charm vanished and he became a cardboard cutout of a person. Full Story

Disney’s in-house fan convention, D23, is this weekend, and not coincidentally, Adam Driver in costume as New New Star Wars bad guy Kylo Ren is on the cover of Entertainment Weekly. This is the best look yet that we’ve gotten of Driver, who, except for showing off his lightsaber in the trailer, has largely been left out of the marketing for Episode VII to date. Full Story

Katie Holmes in New York today on the set of her movie All We Had based on the novel of the same name by Annie Weatherwax (great name). Katie is also directing the film. Bradley Cooper’s been in London all summer in The Elephant Man. His next movie opens in October. He plays a chef, presumably called Adam Jones, who burns out on drugs, and has to cook his way back to the top. The original title of the film was supposed to be Chef, but Jon Favreau got there first. Full Story

You know the kind of movie your parents suggest watching when you’re visiting, and you agree to watch it because you know it’s relatively harmless entertainment that won’t include a graphic sex scene or anything similarly mortifying to watch with your parents? But then you end up pretending like you don’t actually like it because you’re not supposed to get sucked into the kind of populist maudlin tripe that’s made to appeal to white middle-aged suburban parents, except you do like it because goddamn it, it’s just so earnest and heartfelt that it works, even if it is crazy cheesy?
