Idris Elba flew to Vancouver after promoting Beasts Of No Nation to work on the new Star Trek. He left yesterday, just in time to give me new photos for my birthday. What a sexy gift. Thank you. Have a great weekend!  Full Story

Jake G in Everest

Actually, I should say that it’s Jason Clarke in Everest because Jake Gyllenhaal has a relatively small role and disappears from the film for long stretches, but he’s being treated in the publicity materials like he’s the star, and I don’t know how many of you are really here for Jason Clarke, while I know there are a bunch of us scanning for Jake G. Full Story

The cast of The Martian, led by Matt Damon, was in London tonight for the UK premiere. So far the reviews for The Martian have been quite strong. Sarah saw it at TIFF and liked it a lot and Sarah’s hard to please. But when I saw her after the screening, she wasn’t angry at all about spending two hours in the theatre watching it. Full Story

Tom Hardy ain’t got time for primadonna directors

Tom Hardy gave an interview, via Skype, to Vulture and in it he sh*ts all over the idea of directors and basically says they contribute nothing to film. I laughed for a solid five minutes, because cinema is a culture that worships directors and also because Tom Hardy basically just declared to all future employers that he doesn’t really respect what they do. Full Story

Once again, I went into the second entry in a YA dystopia franchise totally blind—I have not read the Maze Runner books nor have I seen the first Maze Runner movie. Like Divergent: Insurgent, this is an exercise in “Can Sarah figure out what is going on without any context?” Because all YA dystopias are the exact same mashup of Lord of the Flies, The Lottery, and Battle Royale, the answer is yes—yes I can. Full Story

The Perfect Guy

There is nothing in The Perfect Guy as mind-blowingly ludicrous as a teenager handing his older lover a first edition copy of The Iliad, but oh, how I wish there was. The Perfect Guy is a “romantic” thriller so devoid of romance—or passion, or any emotion, really—that it desperately needs something as balls-out crazy as that Iliad scene from The Boy Next Door. Full Story

David Beckham, actor and “outlaw”

Victoria and David Beckham, along with son Brooklyn, attended a party last night to celebrate the one year anniversary of Victoria’s flagship store. I’m kinda into the fact that Posh didn’t overdress for this. Tank top, skinny pants, a sparkly jacket on the way in, no jacket on the way out. Full Story

The smooth, calculated Michael B. Jordan

Sarah Posted by Sarah at September 23, 2015 19:45:45 September 23, 2015 19:45:45

Michael B. Jordan is one of three cover profiles in October’s GQ, alongside Ryan Reynolds and Rob Lowe. The interview itself is a good read, especially as Jordan has maintained a pretty low profile on his way up these past few years. It’s possible to know him as a Young Actor On The Rise, but not really have any idea of him as a celebrity persona. Full Story

“The actor from Ontario”

I interviewed Josh Brolin for Gangster Squad a couple of years ago. Half our interview was about Ryan Gosling’s balls…which wasn’t actually what I was asking. All I did was throw Josh a question about Ryan, what's he like to work with, their chemistry, etc. And then he started talking about Ryan’s balls and how they’re like a “vineyard”. Full Story

Cancer, the toxic monster that not only attacks the body, but every relationship a person has. In this film it tests the strength of the lifelong friendship between Milly (Toni Collette) and Jess (Drew Barrymore), and these two have already been to hell and back with each other. Miss You Already, which premiered at TIFF and is set in London, shows the power of their bond after Milly learns she'll need a double mastectomy because her cancer is so invasive. Full Story

Speaking of Blank-Man…

Zack Snyder, the director of Man Of Steel and the upcoming Batman vs Superman, talked some sh-t recently about his superheroes and the Marvel superheroes. Basically he’s saying that the Marvel guys, Iron Man, Captain America etc will come and go. But that Batman and Superman are forever: But I feel like Batman and Superman are transcendent of superhero movies in a way, because they’re Batman and Superman. Full Story
