Henry Cavill is standing on a couch

Lainey Posted by Lainey at August 5, 2015 19:36:58 August 5, 2015 19:36:58

The Man From U.N.C.L.E. comes out in a couple of weeks. So Henry Cavill is on the cover of UK Men’s Health probably talking about working out; the interview hasn’t been released yet, although I did find one detail that’s supposedly from the magazine: For Superman, Henry has to add a ton of muscles, but he needs to look a lot slimmer to play Solo, and his trainers keep him in check. Full Story

Now this is how you tease a movie with Matt Damon & Jessica Chastain

Yesterday I expressed annoyance with Zoolander 2 for wasting everyone’s time (and Paramount’s money) with a teaser trailer that was nothing. If you can’t illuminate some aspect of the film itself, don’t bother—wait until you actually have something to say about your movie before opening your digital mouth and demanding our attention. Full Story

Photos of Brange By The Sea

Brange’s By The Sea, written and directed by Angelina Jolie Pitt and starring Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, opens in November. We were hoping the film would hit the festival circuits, giving us some Pitt Porn in Venice and Toronto. That’s not happening. They’re just going to drop it on us when it’s scheduled to drop on us, and basically when award season really gets going and the top contenders start to emerge. Full Story

Deadpool: Ryan Reynolds might actually have pulled this off

Sarah Posted by Sarah at August 5, 2015 14:11:13 August 5, 2015 14:11:13

No one has had worse luck with superhero movies than Ryan Reynolds. He’s been in three superhero movies of varying levels of bad—Blade: Trinity, hilariously awful; Wolverine: Origins, spectacularly bad; Green Lantern, disastrous—and if you add the completely misguided R.I.P.D., a non-superhero comic book adaptation to his roster, he’s 0-4. Full Story

This man is not Bond and no one understands

Lainey Posted by Lainey at August 4, 2015 20:49:43 August 4, 2015 20:49:43

Needed this on a sh-tty day… Idris Elba covers Maxim. And they point out that he probably won’t be the next James Bond – right now it’s looking like it could be Damian Lewis because…I don’t know why. I don’t know why anyone wouldn’t think Idris Elba wouldn’t be a perfect Bond. Full Story

Have you seen Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation yet? I’ve seen it twice now – went again yesterday. And it’s just as fun the second time. That’s not an original statement either. The movie is critically acclaimed and it exceeded box office projections, by all accounts a major success for Tom Cruise, the “living manifestation of destiny”. Full Story

Zoolander 2 (2oolander?) has a teaser that is nothing

Sarah Posted by Sarah at August 4, 2015 14:23:19 August 4, 2015 14:23:19

Zoolander 2 is currently slated for release on February 12, 2016, which is a little over six months away. A burial in the February boneyard of cinematic crap is not a confidence builder, but then, the new teaser trailer for Zoolander II doesn’t commit to that date, instead saying only “Coming in 2016”. Full Story

Johnny Depp is too exhausting to sustain interest in Black Mass

Sarah Posted by Sarah at July 31, 2015 14:16:58 July 31, 2015 14:16:58

The downside of Johnny Depp always doing weird voices and wearing elaborate makeup for his film roles is that it has killed the magic of his performances. I LOVED Johnny Depp for years and years—he was one of my favorites when I started writing for this site—but he has killed my appreciation for his art with his constant stream of weirdo performances and his scarfy evolution (scarfolution) into a parody of himself. Full Story
