Jennifer Aniston: The Snubbed Tour

Lainey Posted by Lainey at January 19, 2015 20:44:22 January 19, 2015 20:44:22

Jennifer Aniston was not nominated for an Oscar last week. And there was a junket scheduled right afterwards for her to promote Cake. Like a true professional, she went ahead with her press obligations and did not get the chicken pox. (Oh come on, Brangelunatics. It was the easy, cheap joke.) So now we’ve turned this into the Snubbed Tour. Full Story

Johnny Depp was in Berlin this weekend for Mortdecai. So far there hasn’t been a carpet in North America. But Johnny’s like Tom Cruise now. Audiences are much more supportive of him overseas. So far there haven’t been any reviews. Mortdecai opens on Friday. The movie is a January release and no critic comments posted yet? Not usually a good sign. Full Story

She’s on American Idol. She’s promoting American Idol at the TCAs (in a red skirt). She’s on morning television because The Boy Next Door is coming out on Friday. The reviews have been horrible. GOOD! For those of us who are eagerly waiting for Friday to see it, we didn’t expect it to be quality filmmaking anyway. Full Story

Paddington review

Whoever did the US marketing for Paddington ought to be flogged. They did this movie dirty, cutting terrible trailers that made the movie look hokey and trite and Paddington himself a demonic hellbeast unleashed from our nightmares. But in reality, Paddington, and adaptation of the popular Paddington the Bear children’s books, is a charming, sweet, lovely film. Full Story

As mentioned earlier, it was a big weekend for American Sniper, Bradley Cooper, and Clint Eastwood. Sienna Miller gets to enjoy that too, right? We’ve talked about what a ride she’s had the last year or so. And now, being part of a film that just turned this into a legitimate race… it’s good for her. Full Story

Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes stepped out together this weekend to see Don Rickles perform in Beverly Hills. We’ve not seen them papped together as a couple in a long time. So, despite rumours every 2 months, he’s still with her and she’s still with him. And I love that he decided to kick it on their night out, a break from the baby, in a pair of white shoes. Full Story

It’s an utterly meaningless Critics’ Choice Award, but still! Jenny Slate is awesome and she was awesome in Obvious Child and she won Best Actress in a Comedy for Obvious Child, so that’s awesome. She’s so pretty and I love her voice so much I just want to make out with her. Full Story

The NBA was in the UK last night. The Milwaukee Bucks played the New York Knicks. Even though the Royal Foundation has a partnership with the league, Prince Harry already met with Carmelo Anthony the day before – click here to revisit those pictures – so I guess that was enough to satisfy the royal involvement…? Maybe he just likes watching darts Full Story

What was unspoken at the Critics’ Choice Awards

Could you sense it? You could sense it, right? There was an unspoken discomfort agitating underneath the Critics’ Choice Awards last night. Jessica Chastain, when accepting the first ever MVP Award, was the one who came closest to addressing it. She encouraged her peers to speak up about the lack of diversity… But it’s not like she came out and openly criticised what was missing from the Oscar nominations that morning, Martin Luther King Jr’s birthday. Full Story

Michael Keaton somehow won twice

I don’t understand why Birdman keeps getting categorized as a comedy. It’s weird and has its funny moments, but it’s not a comedy. And yet at the Golden Globes and the Critics’ Choice Awards it was classified as a comedy. I’m fine with splitting drama and comedy categories for award purposes, but if that’s going to happen then can you please nominate actual comedies and not dramas that have some humorous dialogue? It defeats the purpose of the split categories if all you’re doing is ignoring actual comedies in order to sneak in more dramatic nominees. Full Story
