Check out Mark Wahlberg and his congenial wife, Rhea Durham, at the premiere of The Gambler last night. As you know, Mark’s been in the news lately because he’s requested a pardon for beating people up when he was 16. At the time he spat out some racial slurs to go along with his punches. Full Story

Tonight is the premiere of Seth Rogen’s and James Franco’s new movie, The Interview, in which they play entertainment reporters attempting to assassinate Kim Jong-un. North Korea is unhappy about the existence of this movie, and many people assume it’s the impetus behind the Sony Hack, but so far, no conclusive evidence Full Story

This was not the way the week was expected to go for Angelina Jolie. No Golden Globes. And she gets implicated in the Sony email leak. AND Jennifer Aniston gets a SAG nomination and an invitation to the Beverly Hilton by the HFPA. It’s rare. Because the way the Jolie plays it, things usually go her way. Full Story

SAG nomination yesterday, Golden Globe nomination today – Jake Gyllenhaal’s chances at an Oscar nomination are looking better and better. Bradley Cooper’s are not. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association has given us a lot of WTF moments over the years. I’m not sure if the Brange and Unbroken shutout qualifies as a standard HFPA WTF the way The Tourist did, or, you know, Pia Zadora. Full Story

SAG nominations yesterday, no Unbroken. Golden Globe nominations today…. NO UNBROKEN. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association SHUT OUT Brange. They SHUT OUT Angelina Jolie. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association. They nominated her for The Tourist! And they SHUT DOWN Unbroken! ANNNNNND… They nominated Jennifer Aniston! It’s her greatest victory over them. Full Story

The Summer of Tom Hardy

Sarah messaged me right when I was coming off The Social this afternoon OMGing about the new Mad Max trailer. I pressed play as soon as I got back to my desk and wrote her back: Holy sh-t. HOLY SH-T. This is the best looking and best sounding trailer I’ve seen in…years. Now just to go back for a minute to the Sony email leaks – it was widely reported that production on Mad Max was troubled. Full Story

The redband trailer for the upcoming Kingsman: The Secret Service has been released. Colin Firth plays a Bond type. He recruits and trains a new member of the Secret Service – a punk kid who looks like he could have been in Skins. It’s a comedy. And … I’m into it. SO into it. Full Story

Check out Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones at the premiere of The Theory Of Everything in London last night, an early celebration for their double SAG nominations this morning. Triple, actually, because the film was also nominated for Best Ensemble. Have you seen it? SEE IT. I love this movie. It was my favourite at TIFF. Full Story

We’ve been speculating for weeks about that fifth Best Actor spot, assuming that Michael Keaton, Benedict Cumberbatch, Eddie Redmayne, and Steve Carell would be in for four. And we’ve seen Jake Gyllenhaal surging. Well, he’s almost there. The Screen Actors have sent him an invitation. Full Story

Did Jennifer Aniston stay up late last night, reading and re-reading every email leaked in the Sony hack, especially the parts where Scott Rudin sh-ts on Angelina Jolie? Did it get even better when she woke up this morning – or maybe she didn’t sleep at all – to learn that…holy sh-t, she’s been nominated for a SAG? She did it. Full Story

The Sony hack is the gift that keeps on giving. First it was a laundry list of reasons why making Adam Sandler movies was slowly crushing people’s souls, and now it’s a series of email exchanges between Sony co-chief Amy Pascal, producer Scott Rudin, Aaron Sorkin, and some agents that’s providing a window into the breakdown of a major production deal. Full Story
