It was announced yesterday that Charlie Hunnam will replace Benedict Cumberbatch in The Lost City Of Z. Cumberbatch dropped out because he’s doing Dr Strange. Ummm…no problem here, not from where I’m sitting. That’s an upgrade. Charlie will play Col. Percival Fawcett. Full Story

Channing Tatum is going to come soon

Lainey Posted by Lainey at February 4, 2015 16:21:02 February 4, 2015 16:21:02

They released the poster yesterday. And, well, I mean it’s about as subtle as a dick nudging you in the face. Channing Tatum is going to come, OK? Goddamn. Me too. Like, I was never into Magic Mike the first time. But…it’s this song… In the teaser trailer that’s now blowing up on Twitter. Full Story

What? Where have I been that I didn’t know Julia Roberts and Nicole Kidman would be working together? The film is The Secret In Their Eyes. It was originally supposed to be Gwyneth Paltrow but, for whatever reason, Nicole has replaced her. By the way, and she would want you to know this, Julia’s part was originally for a male actor. Full Story

Remember when Ryan Gosling made a movie and took it to Cannes and everyone hated it? Well, that movie, Lost River, is coming out this April and it has a trailer, and it is some straight up art school sh*t. This trailer has everything—Malickian voice over shots of people walking in nature, Lynchian weirdos, and Nicholas Winding Refn’s color palette. Full Story

Nicholas Hoult was photographed at JFK yesterday. He was in LA last week for some early promotion on Mad Max: Fury Road with Charlize Theron. You can see some of the shots here. The movie doesn’t open until May 15 and no, of course it won’t challenge The Avengers… but it doesn’t have to to be considered a big f-cking deal. Full Story

Felicity Jones is probably Princess Leia

A couple weeks ago we learned that Tatiana Maslany was testing for a role in one of the New New Star Wars spin-offs, but THR is reporting that the role has been offered to newly-minted Oscar nominee Felicity Jones. Okay, sure. She’s got Oscar polish and everyone wants a piece of her now, and since the Spider-Man franchise—in which she appeared as proto-Black Cat—is in limbo at Sony, it’s not a bad move to shore up her burgeoning moment with a new, more functional franchise. Full Story

Premiere of Jupiter Ascending last night. Reviews haven’t been great. BUT some noteworthy critics have given it some love. Like Hitfix’s Drew McWeeny who called it a “wicked slice of entertainment”. Alonso Duralde over at The Wrap Full Story

A new trailer for Jurassic World aired during the Super Bowl, increasing its odds of being one of the biggest movies of the year, and it has some new stuff to show us. The trailer jumps right in with Sea World-style patter to introduce the Mosasaurus. I love this set up—the forced gaiety of the announcer’s voice contrasted with the Mosasaurus devouring a shark cracks me up. Full Story

Answer: We still don’t really know. The first trailer was not informative, and while the Super Bowl TV spot includes new footage, it is still not telling me anything about this movie beyond that it looks cool. I really dig the effect of the girl touching the little T-thingie and the world altering around her in a split second. Full Story
