While Justin Bieber was fronting like he’s all big and bad in Orlando Bloom’s face last night, Selena Gomez was at the Hollywood premiere for her new movie Behaving Badly. It’s a bad title. It looks like a really bad movie. Maybe that’s why she seems so …uncomfortable? Let’s play Photo Assumption and make some baseless suggestions about why she looks so clenched. Full Story
It was a great weekend for Scarlett Johansson. It’s a wonderful time for Scarlett Johansson. Lucy exceeded expectations at the box office, coming in at #1 with almost $45 million and overpowering Dwayne The Rock Johnson’s Hercules. And this just a couple of weeks after Sarah posted this article Full Story
A few days ago THR reported that Joaquin Phoenix and Marvel are in negotiations for him to play Dr Strange. I mean, he’s definitely right for it. On talent, he could totally do it. Of course he could. But… is Joaquin Phoenix a Company Man? Think of how RDJ is a Company Man now for Marvel. Full Story

First, Marvel’s panel started nearly twenty minutes late. Then, they didn’t announce anything new, except that the Guardians of the Galaxy’s pre-destined sequel will open on July 28, 2017. There was no news on Dr. Strange, or long-awaited confirmation of a Black Panther and/or Captain Marvel movie. Full Story

Warner Brothers did a good job of keeping the appearance of Zack Snyder and comics’ Holy Trinity (Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman) a secret in the run up to their panel on Saturday morning in Hall H. When Snyder took the stage and introduced his trio of stars, it felt like a legit surprise, and made for a great Hall H moment—the first time the Trinity has appeared together. Full Story
Sarah has written at length about Comic-Con strategy – how often false hype can be generated out of San Diego (Sucker Punch) that ultimately leads to disappointment. I really, really want to see Boyhood this weekend. Duana and Lara went the other night and yesterday sent an email to a few of our friends with the title “ALERT”:
“Boyhood made me love Ethan Hawke again. Use at your own risk.”
That is a risk. Because I’d been going off Troy Dyer for a while. And then… Before Midnight. Also, there was a Before Sunrise/Sunset/Midnight marathon on TV recently. That didn’t help either.
Experiment: Can Richard Linklater’s Ethan Hawke stand up after a viewing of Billy Idol’s Ethan Hawke? This is what I’ll do as soon as I leave the theatre after Boyhood. Pull up a shot of Billy Ethan Hawke on my phone as a fickle test.
Trying to decide whether or not I should blind you again today and make it a 3-blind week. It’s Friday and so many people are taking off early. Hold to next week or do now? Tell me.
Have a great weekend!
Yours in gossip,
Is this a gift for you? If not, it’s a gift for me. I’m into Wes Bentley. Sarah’s been texting me today about all the mystery around who’s going to be Dr Strange per the big Marvel announcement coming tomorrow and all the speculation and my vote, although they’ve not spoken of him as a possibility, would be Wes Bentley.
