Dear Gossips,

Box office experts are predicting that The Fault In Our Stars will be #1 this weekend, ahead of Tom Cruise’s Edge Of Tomorrow. People really loved that book. As previously noted, I did not love that book. I mean it was OK, it didn’t suck.  Read Full Intro

Tom Cruise the “good sport”

Edge Of Tomorrow comes out tomorrow. Have you seen the reviews? They’re really quite positive. And even the ones that aren’t positive aren’t mega sh-t either. Someone who works in the industry said to me that even though people are wary of his Xenu association, there is an undeniable amount of goodwill in Hollywood for Tom Cruise. Full Story

Oh I’ve been hoping for it for a long time. I’ve been rubbing my Gossip Genie desperately to make this happen. In 2010 I wished for it here. And since then every 6 months or so. When Rachel and Michael Sheen broke up I wished for it again here Full Story

Bradley Cooper was photographed yesterday in super tight super short shorts on the set of American Sniper directed by Clint Eastwood. At one point, he and all the other army actors had to get on the ground and do drills. Then some dude came around and sprayed them with water. Are we shooting a fireman calendar here? This might be the best job he’s ever had. Full Story

Mila, Channing and the February woodshed

Sarah Posted by Sarah at June 4, 2014 15:34:42 June 4, 2014 15:34:42

Late yesterday Warner Brothers announced that the Wachowski siblings’ new movie starring Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis, Jupiter Ascending (aka Jackie and Potatohead Do Space), has been kicked from its sweet July 18 opening to February 6, 2015. It’s not surprising. When the tracking data was released for July movies it rated a dismal $18-22 million projection, against an estimated $150 million budget, which is probably a lot closer to $200 million in reality. Full Story

Marvel’s dating drama

Sarah Posted by Sarah at June 3, 2014 19:21:08 June 3, 2014 19:21:08

Ever since Edgar Wright abruptly left Ant-Man a little over a week ago, Marvel has been listening to “I Will Survive” on repeat, drinking wine coolers, and promising that it’s “like soooooo fine.” To that end, Marvel is already dating around, looking for a new director. Full Story

Angelina Jolie is in Shanghai promoting Maleficent. The movie did well at the box office here. And there’s so much money over in China, she has to go get it. Brad Pitt did not join her for the trip. We’ll come back to him later. As you can see, she’s wearing another pair of those custom Louboutins that were made for her for this press tour. Full Story

This is Tilda

Tilda Swinton is shooting a film called Trainwreck in New York which is also how I would explain how her character’s been styled – a trainwreck. Tilda Swinton’s playing Jennifer Aniston. It’s hard to look at. I hate it. It’s making me grumpy. Toronto’s a muggy wet mess today. Full Story

Dear Gossips,

How do you think Prince Charles feels today? Spain’s King Juan Carlos announced this morning that he will abdicate the throne, stepping aside for his son Prince Felipe. Felipe is 46 years old. Charles is 65. And he’s been waiting …forever.

Then again, Queen Elizabeth is decidedly more popular – at least right now – than King Juan Carlos. People are mad at Juan Carlos. And they’re mad at him about money. It’s a lot harder to get over than being perceived to be “insensitive”.

Did you have a good weekend? Angelina Jolie had a great weekend. Angelina Jolie’s Maleficent exceeded box office estimates for a gross of almost $70 million, making it her biggest opening ever. So she’s halfway there. Halfway to what? Well, there’s also Unbroken later this year. And if she can mount an award season campaign on a drama, after Maleficent’s commercial success, it’ll be another one of those I WIN AT EVERYTHING moments that set her apart from everyone else.

Yours in gossip,

Lainey

Gosling after Cannes

Ryan Gosling’s Lost River was not well received in Cannes. In fact, they sh-t on it. Hard. I noticed too that it was men who were particularly unkind. Which kinda made me laugh. Ryan Gosling. That Guy. The Pillow. The one the girls want to hear right before they fall asleep. Are they tired of Ryan Gosling? Of how women sound when Ryan Gosling comes up? Was Cannes a HAHAHAHAH moment for them? Like, Hey Girl, his movie sucks! “If a $200 haircut and $900 shades were given lots of money to defecate on Detroit, the result would be Ryan Gosling’s directing debut. Full Story
