Blake Lively was in New York today for Michael Kors. She’s been pretty choosy about her appearances lately so, you can imagine, these pictures are going to be everywhere soon if they’re not already. In other Blake news, she’s finally going back to work next month. Adaline – a project that was initially intended for Katherine Heigl – goes into production in March. Full Story

Leonardo DiCaprio and Jonah Hill, 2x Oscar nominee and friend of Marty, Leo, and Brange, were together again this weekend to honour Martin Scorsese at the Art Directors Guild Awards in Beverly Hills. Leo’s been stepping up the campaigning in LA. It might not be as obvious but you don’t think he’ll let Matthew McConaughey just walk away with it, do you? So, what’s the strategy? To me, the thing about Matthew McConaughey is that he keeps playing the same characters over and over again. Full Story

Check out Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard on the set of Macbeth in Farnham, United Kingdom. They're blurry but I thought you might want some idea of what it's going to look like. I've no doubt Fassbender, who is immensely talented, can play his character. He's into the heavy sh-t. Full Story

Page Six has been reporting that while in New York last week for the Super Bowl, Leonardo DiCaprio was seen with Nina Agdal late at night. Nina Agdal is a model. (I didn’t have to mention that, did I?) And Toni Garrn is travelling for work. Full Story

Dashing

I like this word, “dashing”. I don’t use it very much. Few people earn it. But when they do earn it, DASHING is a great word. Sidney Poitier is dashing. Colin Firth is dashing. George Clooney is dashing. Look at him last night in New York promoting The Monuments Men. I prefer him in the open-neck shirt he wore to Letterman. Full Story

We’re about 6 weeks out from the release of Divergent and I feel like there’s been very little buzz. So now a final trailer has been released and the stars are making themselves available. Shailene Woodley and Theo James were out in Hollywood yesterday and also appeared on Jimmy Kimmel. Full Story

Jesse Eisenberg was cast as WHO?

The internet usually hates whoever is cast in upcoming superhero movies. It’s a fact of life. Superhero casting follows a pattern: 1) Announcement, 2) Fan backlash, 3) Supportive media backlash to the fan backlash, 4) The movie comes out and everyone forgets they hated that actor. We’ve seen it time and again, most famously with Heath Ledger and the Joker. Full Story

With their big comic book movie, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, due in theaters in May, Sony is getting serious with their ad campaign. How serious? Super Bowl serious. Sony dropped $8 million on two thirty-second spots (which you can watch here) to tell us to go online and watch a nearly four minute long sizzle reel from the movie. Full Story

Robot. Dinosaurs.

Sarah Posted by Sarah at February 3, 2014 15:47:01 February 3, 2014 15:47:01

I got nerd-yelled at on Twitter for referring to the robots in the Super Bowl TV spot for Transformers: Age of Extinction as robot dinosaurs and not by their proper name, the dinobots. But c’mon. Seriously. “Robot dinosaur” sounds so much better than “dinobot”. There’s no way to say “robot dinosaur” without sounding equal parts disbelieving and excited. Full Story

Captain America kicks ass

Sarah Posted by Sarah at February 3, 2014 15:14:22 February 3, 2014 15:14:22

Marvel played the “Super Bowl TV spot telling you to go watch a trailer online” card, for April’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier. It’s the Phase 2 film that most directly sets up The Avengers: Age of Ultron, and DAMN, did they deliver a great second trailer. It gives a sense of how good Cap 2 actually is, because even if Captain America is nobody’s favorite, this might be the best movie Marvel has put together yet. Full Story
