It was supposed to be Saoirse Ronan. Marvel wanted it to be Saoirse Ronan. But she passed and Marvel moved on. (The unofficial story is that her people tried to game Marvel for money and unless your initials are R, D and J, that sh*t don’t fly. Full Story

And not William and Harry. This is the set of Into The Woods in England. And that’s Billy Magnussen who plays Rapunzel’s prince with Chris Pine who plays Cinderella’s prince. These princes costumes are kinda rock’n’roll, non? And these two actors are certainly very…princely. Full Story

Game on f-ckers: Brad Pitt kicks off his campaign

Lainey Posted by Lainey at October 2, 2013 20:17:47 October 2, 2013 20:17:47

12 Years A Slave opens (limited) in a couple of weeks. It’s coming off big, BIG buzz in Telluride and then at TIFF where it was almost unanimously declared the frontrunner for Oscar, already. And already a few films are getting the f-ck out of its way. Still, there are several contenders that have time to build momentum, including David O Russell’s American Hustle and George Clooney’s Monuments Men so Brad Pitt’s starting early. Full Story

The Hobbit: Everything IS better with dragons

Sarah Posted by Sarah at October 2, 2013 16:39:49 October 2, 2013 16:39:49

A few months ago, after the release of the first trailer for The Hobbit: Journey to Nowhere, I said that trailer #2 should just be the dragon, as voiced by Benedict Cumberbatch. Because that’s all we really care about, right? The dragon, The Batch’s voice, and bonus Lee Pace. Full Story

House Porn: George Clooney edition

Maybe it’s because we have our own house now, but I’ve never been as into House Porn as I am now. Also, I have no eye for interiors. It’s weird because when it comes to clothing, I know exactly what I want. When it comes to where I live and what that could look like…no idea. Full Story

I was juuuuust talking about him in the previous Johnny Depp post. And look! New photos! And no eye-roll. What's there to eye-roll about James McAvoy? Nothing. Thank you to all of you who emailed yesterday to tell me that Anne-Marie Duff is probably rehearsing Macbeth in New York and that's why she wasn't with him at the Filth premiere last night. Full Story

Cam's holding hands with Jason

It's on the set of their new movie, so don't get too excited. But still. She looks great. HE looks great. Like, when's the last time we talked about Jason Segel's jawline, right? If this is one of the side benefits of him not drinking anymore, I say that's good motivation too. But Cam apparently was out with Benicio Del Toro the other night and people were trying to make something of it. Full Story

Chris Hemsworth: Thor Forever?

Despite an aggressive ad campaign that leaned heavily on Chris Hemsworth’s flowing blonde locks, Ron Howard’s movie about Formula 1 drivers, Rush, had a barely acceptable opening of just under $10.3 million. Starring Hemsworth and Daniel Bruhl, Rush is a decent movie, especially the racing scenes, but let’s not pretend like anyone in the US gives a sh*t about F1—it was never going to make money here. Full Story

Over in Scotland, they’re all over James McAvoy’s new film Filth. It opened at #1 over there, one of the biggest British film premieres of all time, and even bigger than X-Men: First Class. Aaaaand they still don’t know what to do with it here in North America. Are our moviegoers less sophisticated or are we less dirty? I WANT DIRTY. Full Story

Carey Mulligan attended the NY premiere of Inside Llewyn Davis this weekend. Her hair is dark now. Later on, she let it down to perform at The Town Hall for the Another Day, Another Time concert, celebrating folk music. Her husband Marcus Mumford was on stage too (he worked on the Llewyn Davis soundtrack) – though not with her so, supposedly, she sang with Elvis Costello (not pictured). Full Story

Katie’s new role, and it’s not tap dancing

Did you catch that in Tina Fey’s monologue on Saturday Night Live? She was telling the new cast members that dancing for the host is part of the job. Then she replayed all the times she had to jazz hand it during her 9 years as a regular player on the show. And she remembered how Will Ferrell had to tap dance for o the same…for Katie Holmes, because Katie Holmes can’t tap. Full Story
