House Porn: George Clooney edition

Maybe it’s because we have our own house now, but I’ve never been as into House Porn as I am now. Also, I have no eye for interiors. It’s weird because when it comes to clothing, I know exactly what I want. When it comes to where I live and what that could look like…no idea. Full Story

I was juuuuust talking about him in the previous Johnny Depp post. And look! New photos! And no eye-roll. What's there to eye-roll about James McAvoy? Nothing. Thank you to all of you who emailed yesterday to tell me that Anne-Marie Duff is probably rehearsing Macbeth in New York and that's why she wasn't with him at the Filth premiere last night. Full Story

Cam's holding hands with Jason

It's on the set of their new movie, so don't get too excited. But still. She looks great. HE looks great. Like, when's the last time we talked about Jason Segel's jawline, right? If this is one of the side benefits of him not drinking anymore, I say that's good motivation too. But Cam apparently was out with Benicio Del Toro the other night and people were trying to make something of it. Full Story

Chris Hemsworth: Thor Forever?

Despite an aggressive ad campaign that leaned heavily on Chris Hemsworth’s flowing blonde locks, Ron Howard’s movie about Formula 1 drivers, Rush, had a barely acceptable opening of just under $10.3 million. Starring Hemsworth and Daniel Bruhl, Rush is a decent movie, especially the racing scenes, but let’s not pretend like anyone in the US gives a sh*t about F1—it was never going to make money here. Full Story

Scots love a Filthy James

Over in Scotland, they’re all over James McAvoy’s new film Filth. It opened at #1 over there, one of the biggest British film premieres of all time, and even bigger than X-Men: First Class. Aaaaand they still don’t know what to do with it here in North America. Are our moviegoers less sophisticated or are we less dirty? I WANT DIRTY. Full Story

Carey goes dark…and sings

Carey Mulligan attended the NY premiere of Inside Llewyn Davis this weekend. Her hair is dark now. Later on, she let it down to perform at The Town Hall for the Another Day, Another Time concert, celebrating folk music. Her husband Marcus Mumford was on stage too (he worked on the Llewyn Davis soundtrack) – though not with her so, supposedly, she sang with Elvis Costello (not pictured). Full Story

Katie’s new role, and it’s not tap dancing

Did you catch that in Tina Fey’s monologue on Saturday Night Live? She was telling the new cast members that dancing for the host is part of the job. Then she replayed all the times she had to jazz hand it during her 9 years as a regular player on the show. And she remembered how Will Ferrell had to tap dance for o the same…for Katie Holmes, because Katie Holmes can’t tap. Full Story

But why must it ALWAYS be girl sh*t?

Sarah Posted by Sarah at September 27, 2013 18:48:45 September 27, 2013 18:48:45

As Lainey says, girl sh*t is the best sh*t. It makes for great gossip. When it’s organic girl sh*t, occurring in the wild, I enjoy it as much as the next person. When I don’t enjoy it is when it’s manufactured bullsh*t meant to pit women against each other. Why do women always have to be in competition? Why can a woman succeed only at the expense of another woman? And why do we make this narrative—why do we ACCEPT this narrative—when the actual story is obviously not about girl sh*t at all? The National Enquirer—I know, I know, but roll with me—is reporting that the reason Meryl Streep didn’t show up at TIFF to support August: Osage County was not because she was ill (publicly stated reason for her absence) but because she hates Julia Roberts so much she won’t support the film and never wants to work with Roberts again. Full Story

Adele’s Breakfast In Bed?

Baz Bamigboye from the Daily Mail is reporting that Adele might play Dusty Springfield. It’s very early. There’s nothing confirmed. And the reason I’m citing Bamigboye as the source is to distinguish this story from the Mail’s usual stories they pull out of their asses. Full Story

Michael B Jordan For Independence Day Sequel?

You know that thing where your dog gets weird before a storm? I think you, me and the rest of us gossips have that same instinct for when a celebrity is being groomed and pushed on us as The Next Big Thing. We’ve felt it SO many times - we all felt it with Anne, we felt it with Amanda Seyfried, we felt it with Ryan Reynolds (and Gosling!), and for a while now we’ve been feeling it with Michael B Jordan. Full Story

Divergent: More Of The Same

Duana Posted by Duana at September 26, 2013 17:16:02 September 26, 2013 17:16:02

There's a new Divergent featurette. I mean, watch it, by all means – but it’s the same damn thing as we’ve seen before. Tris is Divergent! Lots of cutting between industrial street scenes and fight scenes!  You really don’t know what’s going on, what a “faction” is, or why you should care, but it’s okay because the lighting seems ominous so maybe that’s enough reason to be worried. Full Story
