She’s shooting in New York so we’re getting new shots every day. Today Jennifer Aniston stepped out in a hat, denim shorts, a purple tee, and her usual. You know. Yesterday Jen wore white…with more, errm, support. And a black dress with that awful wig. I guess when you’re 44 years old and they still stand up so nice you’d want to show that off? We’re going to get a lot of Jen in the next few weeks. Full Story

Deadline broke the news yesterday that Sacha Baron Cohen has dropped out of the Freddie Mercury biopic that he’s been working on for a couple of years. Queen has creative approval of the film and apparently Cohen was pushing for a “gritty” R-rated version of Freddie’s story while the band wanted it to be more PG. Full Story

Johnny Depp is overseas promoting The Lone Ranger, trying to squeeze out every dollar possible from the foreign market to make up for Disney’s loss on the movie. At the same time, he’s also turning it into a family holiday with his girlfriend. Here are Johnny and Amber Heard, holding hands after a museum visit in Berlin with his kids, Lily Rose and Jack. Full Story

Comic-Con’s Most Popular: Jennifer Lawrence

Marvel’s dick was definitely the biggest at Comic-Con. But if there was a vote for Most Popular, among geeks and non-geeks, on the male side it was probably Tom Hiddleston’s Loki. On the female side… Please. Jennifer Lawrence. Of course. She had two projects to promote: Catching Fire, obviously, and X-Men which speaks to the extraordinary professional high she’s been riding as the heroine of two franchises each with its own independent fanbases and a good balance too. Full Story

Superman needs a partner

It could have been a different Henry Cavill who showed up at Comic-Con this year. Off the success of his debut as Superman in Man Of Steel, winning over the nerd folk with his performance, Comic-Con could have been his victory party …only… well… he took some baggage to San Diego. Full Story

Marvel rocks Comic-Con 2013: Saturday edition

On Saturday, Marvel held their annual nerd rock concert in Hall H and totally buried Warner Brothers/DC’s announcement that the Man of Steel sequel will be a Superman/Batman match-up. That got a lot of screams earlier in the day but by the end of the night, all anyone was talking about was Marvel’s upcoming films, especially Guardians of the Galaxy. Full Story

Is it any surprise? It’s their second home. Marvel made an impressive showing on Friday in both Hall H for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and in Ballroom 20 for their TV venture, Agents of SHIELD. First up, the Agents of SHIELD panel in Ballroom 20. Agent Coulson himself, Clark Gregg, got a standing ovation when he was introduced—by far the biggest reaction for any Marvel actor except for Tom Hiddleston, and even then it was pretty close. Full Story

Dauntless at Comic-Con. It was a big day for Divergent at Comic-Con to kick off this year’s Dork Storm, as Sarah calls it. Look how many outfits Shailene Woodley had to wear. Woodley of course is the new would-be Kristen Stewart/Jennifer Lawrence, headlining the film adaptation of Veronica Roth’s book series. Full Story

Jen balances out the wig

Jennifer Aniston has been shooting Squirrels For The Nuts in New York this week. That wig she has to wear for the character is pretty sad. If you had to be in costume like that with a wig that sad for 8 hours a day or more, would you show up to set reminding everyone of the real thing? What is the real thing? The real thing is great hair, a tight body, toned legs, her favourite wedge sandals, and, you know, the front side well tweaked. Full Story

Mandela’s Waving Flag

Lainey Posted by Lainey at July 19, 2013 14:23:56 July 19, 2013 14:23:56

Last week we saw a teaser. This week they’re giving us the first full length trailer for Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom, starring Idris Elba in the title role and Naomie Harris as Winnie Mandela. Yesterday was also Nelson Mandela’s 95th birthday. As I’ve already mentioned, several times, Elba’s performance in this film is said to be nomination-worthy, in a year featuring several nomination-worthy performances from black actors including Michael B Jordan in Fruitvale, Forest Whittaker in The Butler, and Chiwetel Ejiofor in 12 Years A Slave. Full Story

Jamie Foxx blue himself

Sarah Posted by Sarah at July 18, 2013 19:54:56 July 18, 2013 19:54:56

In other EW-related news, they also had a teaser for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 featuring Jamie Foxx as the villain, Electro. He looks a million times better than Rhys Ifans did as the Lizard, so the sequel is already one up on the reboot. I especially like the way his brain is pulsing in the three seconds in which we get to see him. Full Story
