Keira Knightley’s been in Seattle shooting Laggies. She stepped in to replace Anne Hathaway who decided to work on Song One instead, produced by her husband Adam Shulman. Does it seem like those two keep getting crossed in the mail? Becoming Jane/Pride & Prejudice, both were up for Selena Kyle, Steve Carell movies, and should Keira have played Emma Morley in One Day? Anyway, Keira’s back in in London now, with her husband of two months, James Righton, seen here today arm in arm, in newlywed mode and enjoying the summer. Full Story

Charlie Hunnam is not Henry Cavill

Yet. Ever? As you know, Henry Cavill is no longer with Gina Carano. He’s now with the Big Bang Theory’s Kaley Cuoco. Because he’s Superman and a movie star now…? Man Of Steel is a Warner Bros property. So is Pacific Rim, starring Charlie Hunnam who’s been dating jeweller designer Morgana for a few years now. Full Story

Blake & Ryan promote Turbo

A sparkly Blake Lively showed up at the NY premiere of Turbo last night to support her husband, Ryan Reynolds. She wore Burberry and a fresh, dewy summer face. Blake held hands and posed with her brother and, presumably, his kids, but, as far as I can see, there are no red carpet shots of her with Ryan, which is so interesting to me, this Hollywood convention. Full Story

Pacific Rim opens on Friday. My interviews with the cast are airing all week on etalk. I’ll tell you more about Idris Elba, Charlie Hunnam, Charlie Day, and Ron Perlman tomorrow when I post the photos from the LA premiere which is happening tonight. Will Hunnam bring his girlfriend? Will she tell him to lower his chin? Here’s Hunnam at Good Morning America yesterday. Full Story

The LEGO Movie actually looks funny (and Chris Pratt IS funny)

Sarah Posted by Sarah at July 8, 2013 19:08:06 July 8, 2013 19:08:06

A movie based on LEGO is an iffy proposition. On the one hand, it has universal appeal—LEGO has been popular so long that there are kids playing with it today and there are generations of adults who grew up with it, too. Who doesn’t love LEGO? It’s awesome. But on the other hand, movies based on toys don’t have the best track record, either financially or qualitatively (see also: Battlship, Transformers, GI: Joe). Full Story

The Lone Ranger TANKED

Sarah Posted by Sarah at July 8, 2013 14:11:03 July 8, 2013 14:11:03

I didn’t expect it to be good—and it wasn’t—but I did think that Johnny Depp’s name combined with the audience-pleasing connection to the Pirates of the Caribbean movies would translate into good box office anyway. Boy was I wrong. Full Story

Idris & Charlie on a red carpet together

There will be more of this. Pacific Rim doesn’t open until next Friday. So we’ll get at least another major carpet. And some television interviews. My interviews with Idris Elba, Charlie Hunnam, Guillermo del Toro, Rinko Kikuchi, Ron Perlman, and Charlie Day from the junket in San Francisco last weekend will air next week on etalk so I’ll save most of the details about being in a room with these two beasts for then (since many of you are still on holiday), but I will say, for now, that they’re waaaaaayyyyyy more sexy on the casual than they are on a carpet. Full Story

Lovelace and This Hot Bitch

So here’s what Lindsay Lohan will be watching obsessively, if she hasn’t already, when she gets out of rehab… You’ll recall, Lohan was supposed to play Linda Lovelace in a movie called Inferno. She even had all her makeup done for a photoshoot in advance because that’s all it takes – a wig and some eyeliner. Full Story

He Returns!

Behold, the greatest delight the Veronica Mars Movie is going to present to us, or at least, the delight that will be mostly pleasure and not at all spiked with pain. Vinnie Van Lowe returns! I love him. I can’t help it. I love that reedy voice of his. Also, it should be noted that Ken Marino is drinking the blood of virgins or something, because he does not age at all. Full Story

I know I don’t need to explain to you why this is a celebration. Any day that includes Mark Ruffalo is a celebration. Ruffalo was on the set of The Normal Heart in New York yesterday with Matt Bomer. Bonus! The Normal Heart also features Taylor Kitsch and tells the story of one man’s experience with the AIDS crisis in the 80s. Full Story

It was announced today that Alfonso Cuaron’s highly anticipated Gravity, starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney will open the Venice Film Festival. George loves to open in Italy and Cuaron has always done well there. Venice has secured a great kick-off. And, again, as I’ve already mentioned a few times, Sandy’s having a great year. Full Story
