Entertainment Weekly is all about Spider-Man in the new Comic-Con preview issue. Andrew Garfield on the cover and something like 15 exclusive photos from the film, due out next year. Two of those images feature Garfield and Emma Stone as boyfriend and girlfriend. OMG. I want them to make babies. Hot, right? Especially the shot of her with his shirt off. Full Story

A teaser trailer for John Carter was released the other day featuring Taylor Kitsch very shirtless, very cut, very hot, and, um, not saying much. I suppose that’s the point. It does what a teaser is supposed to do, sure, and that is tease us until the proper trailer can tell us more about the story. Full Story

Hopefully. For the next couple of weeks anyway. Promotion on Crazy Stupid Love is beginning. The movie opens on July 29th. And I hope it’s good. I hope it’s really good. I hope it’s so good it ends up being bigger than Friends With Benefits. Because I am a petty goddamn bitch like that. Full Story

For those of you who love to hate Gwyneth. Because she dies. And don’t yell at me for spoiling it. This is what they told me in the trailer. It’s Contagion. Directed by Steven Soderbergh. Starring Matt Damon, Kate Winslet, Jude Law, Marion Cotillard, and my Gwyneth who opens the preview and appears to be the first one to get sick. Full Story

Written by Sarah Two issues with Sherlock Holmes. 1) We’re going to need a way to distinguish between the RDJ/Guy Ritchie movie franchise and the BBC series starring Benedict Yum Yum (because that nickname is no less ridiculous than his real name of Cumberbatch). Full Story

Please note the following review is SPOILER HEAVY. You've read the reviews by now. It's getting very, very good reviews. And that's great. Those reviews have been written, mostly, by people who weren't into the books, who see movies for a living and judge them on their merit as an art form. Full Story

James Franco, you sound like Lindsay Lohan

More from his interview with Playboy (click here for yesterday’s post if you missed it when he said he knew better than the Academy) and, well, it’s pure narcissism on display now. James Franco is obsessed with James Franco. He’ll probably call that an “art project” too. Full Story

Ryan Reynolds, as of yesterday at least, is home in Vancouver, hanging out with family, some buddies, in Yaletown and Kitsilano. Apparently he was at the Yaletown Keg on Saturday, then moved over to the Yaletown Brew Co. And yesterday it was Local. These photos are from Sunday. Brand new Chucks? He looks good, right? Ryan is in town for some down time presumably before promotion for his next release The Change-Up on August 5th. Full Story

Stephenie Meyer is ruining Rom-coms too now…

Written by Sarah Although, I suppose, there’s not that much left to ruin anyway. I am a sucker for old romantic comedies—and I mean old, like Bringing Up Baby or It Happened One Night—which is why I’m so hard on modern rom-coms. Full Story

Michael Bay, 3D, and the will of the artist

Written by Sarah Earlier this week Michael Bay sent a letter to the projectionists at movie theaters, imploring them to screen Transformers 3 with the 3D specs he specified. If you haven’t heard of this controversy: as 3D has gained popularity with filmmakers and audiences (though I would say that audience interest is waning), movie theaters have invested a ton of money into getting the newest and best in 3D technology—new projectors, new light bulbs, new lenses, special training for projectionists on how to operate the equipment. Full Story

The GMD & Eminem

Mission: Impossible 4 or, more accurately, Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol (What a Dumb Title), there’s a new trailer...with the sounds of Eminem complementing all the running, stunting, and stand-offing between Tom Cruise and Jeremy Renner. (I used to hate the name Jeremy. Probably because I went to school with one and he was a smartass dick. Full Story
