Daniel Craig’s Dragon Drama

Sarah Posted by Sarah at January 31, 2013 16:55:17 January 31, 2013 16:55:17

Despite generally positive reviews and five Oscar nominations, the English-language adaptation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo didn’t bowl over the box office. Still, Sony announced they would go ahead with the sequels, which to me was always the point of remaking the Swedish films anyway. Full Story

Entourage, like its HBO predecessor Sex and the City, is being turned into a movie. Great, so are the boys going to Abu Dhabi too? Entourage gave us douchebags before douchebags took over reality tv. The show was supposed to be super insider-y, but even someone with a passing interest in pop culture would understand most of the references. Full Story

Nooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYY???? This was my reaction last night when Sarah messaged me that Nicholas Hoult had joined Twitter. She thought I was screaming about Jennifer Lawrence’s fans taunting him pretty much the minute he posted his first message. Frankly that made me happy. Full Story

George Clooney as Walt Disney?

Sarah Posted by Sarah at January 29, 2013 20:46:34 January 29, 2013 20:46:34

I was writing, waxing snarketic on George Clooney starring in a movie written by the guy who specializes in mystical sci-fi bullsh*t (Damon Lindelof of Lost and Prometheus fame) and based on Disney World’s most boring attraction, Tomorrowland (except for Space Mountain, which is f*cking awesome), when I had a thought: Several pieces of information clicked into place and suddenly I was struck by an idea. Full Story

The Most Important Actor in these photos...

Who? Well, for the 12 of us who watched and still miss Friday Night Lights, and the 8 of you who watch and love Parenthood, obviously the most important actor in these photos is Michael B Jordan... And Michael B Jordan just happened to have a very, VERY good Sundance. Jordan’s film Fruitvale, about the last day in the life of Oscar Grant who was fatally shot (even though he was not resisting arrest) by a transit officer in Oakland in 2009, was considered one of the major highlights of the festival. Full Story

Word is she’s negotiating for a part in the film adaptation, scheduled to begin shooting in the Spring in Chicago. Someone from Summit even tweeted that her involvement is confirmed, before pulling down the tweet later on. Everyone is now speculating on the role -- most think she’ll play Jeanine Matthews, the leader of Erudite who doesn’t have a huge part (in terms of screen time) in Divergent but shows up a lot more in Insurgent. Full Story

Ever since Disney acquired LucasFilm, and by extension the Star Wars franchise last fall, the number one question has been who will direct “Episode VII”?  Disney has already hired screenwriter Michael Arndt (Little Miss Sunshine, Toy Story 3, Star Wars VII—what an interesting progression) to work on the script, and now it’s being widely reported that JJ Abrams will direct the next Star Wars film. Full Story

Can’t Unsee: Benedict Cumberbatch edition

Sarah Posted by Sarah at January 23, 2013 18:02:06 January 23, 2013 18:02:06

In a piece of fantastical timing, I had no sooner defended my crush on Benedict Cumberbatch (again), than Dreamworks released the first still from The Fifth Estate, showing Cumberbatch in character as Wikileaks founder Julian Assange. Cannot unsee. Look, if Benedict Cumberbatch is not your flavor, I get it. Full Story

JLO’s been all over New York promoting Parker this week, in varying outfits, clearly loving the attention. That’s who she is, right? Even when she’s selling sh-t she doesn’t mind. Because she’s out there, and people want to talk to her, and she gets to talk about herself, and in this case in particular, Parker really is a Jason Statham vehicle anyway. Full Story

You are not Bruce Willis

But he’s trying... Gerard Butler made another movie. I know! I mean I don’t! I don’t know why they keep hiring him either! This time, as many people have already pointed it, it’s Die Hard except without Bruce Willis, and Gerry Spittles is alone with the bad guys in the White House trying to rescue the President who might be mad at him for not saving his wife, Ashley Judd. Full Story
