But f-ck, why not? Deadline reported yesterday that Angelina Jolie will direct a movie called Unbroken. #RobstenIsUnbroken? Yes. But no. But let’s put #RobstenIsUnbroken on our Best of 2012 list anyway, shall we? The Twi-Hard meltdown exceeded all of our expectations. Full Story

A new trailer for Star Trek Into Darkness was released yesterday this time with more focus on Chris Pine’s Kirk who must battle a new adversary but, mostly, his own arrogance. Of course. His family is at risk. Everything is falling apart. They must run through an awesome red field/forest. And. Full Story

The Lone Ranger looks sh-tty, will make money anyway

Sarah Posted by Sarah at December 11, 2012 18:20:42 December 11, 2012 18:20:42

The second trailer for Disney’s The Lone Ranger is out and oh God, it looks hilariously awful. Not because of Johnny Depp as Tonto, but because it just looks like a clichéd, bloated summer action movie. So, like, bad in the regular way. People are, of course, always and forever going to debate Depp as Tonto, as we have done here Full Story

Eddie Redmayne’s great suit

It’s a gorgeous suit. It’s a beautiful colour. And he wears it so well. I interviewed Eddie Redmayne at the Les Miserables junket last weekend in New York. He is very, very nice. Doesn’t take himself too seriously, is engaging and friendly, seems kind and humble. It’s hard to not to be happy for him that he has the opportunity in this film to showcase his talent and variety and the best part about that is that, unlike some of his peers, he’s not self-conscious about the role. Full Story

Here’s Tom Cruise at the London premiere of Jack Reacher last night wearing a lot of blush and bronzer. Contouring makes all the difference, you know? While Tom’s promoting his current release, a trailer for his next release, Oblivion, was released online yesterday. He plays another Jack. Full Story

Will and Jaden Smith by M. Night Shyamalan looks terrible

Sarah Posted by Sarah at December 11, 2012 15:56:34 December 11, 2012 15:56:34

Somehow, after a run of increasingly bad efforts capped off by the infuriating The Happening and the appallingly awful The Last Airbender, M. Night Shyamalan is still allowed to make movies. How he’s not been thrown in Director Jail remains a mystery, and not only does he remain at large, free to crap out whatever turd of a twist ending he’s come up with and call it a plot, he’s still convincing major stars to put their names on his pieces of sh-t. Full Story

Last year around this time, Tom Cruise was promoting Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol with Katie Holmes at his side and on his side. As you know, M:I4 did very, very good business, and it seemed like, finally, Tom was over the couch-jumping. And in the dead of the night, she escaped. Since then, nightly news shows and celebrity-friendly publications have run slam pieces on Scientology, alleging that Tom has a freakish habit of auditioning his girlfriends and future-wives, seemingly no longer afraid of retribution. Full Story

Peter Jackson’s return to Middle Earth, this time focusing on Frodo’s uncle Bilbo undertaking his own adventure as a young man, is good enough, but “good enough” feels like an indictment when the original LOTR trilogy ranged from “very good” to “extraordinary”. Full Story

Because the first teaser for Star Trek Into Darkness is all about The Batch. As I mentioned earlier this week, we don’t know a lot about the plot or new characters in Star Trek 2. This teaser does little to shed light on either of those things. Full Story

At least for a night. And God, it makes all the difference. Her face, you can actually SEE her face. And it’s a really, really pretty face. And they did a great job with the makeup, now that they have something to work with, now that her hair is styled without that goddamn fringe. It’s really too bad about her dress. Full Story
