Well, I guess it’s a better than Quantum of Solace. Still... Skyfall isn’t lighting me on fire on originality, you know? Skyfall is the title of a Tom Cruise movie. Tom Cruise would be really, really excited about something called Skyfall. Which is the next Bond. They announced it at a photo call today in London. Full Story

Remember when Taylor Lautner met with Gus Van Sant and Dustin Lance Black for dinner last month? A writer, a director and an actor at a table together can only mean one thing—they’re working together. Or, at least Lautner and Van Sant are. The Hollywood Reporter just announced that they’re setting up a project together, based on a New Yorker article Lautner’s production company optioned. Full Story

She really, really does.In This Means War, Reese Witherspoon juggles Chris Pine and Tom Hardy (unconvincingly). Now she’s being offered the lead in Sony’s Sex Tape, a movie about a married couple who lose track of their homemade porn. Jason Segel would be the other half of the couple and his buddy and writing partner Nick Stoller may direct. Full Story

A random group of actresses

Steve Carell and Jim Carrey are teaming up in a comedy about rival magicians called Burt Wonderstone (doesn’t that sound like a Will Ferrell character?), and the short list for the female lead is the randomest group of actresses I’ve seen in a long time—Olivia Wilde, Michelle Monaghan, Judy Greer, Jessica Biel and Sarah Silverman. Full Story

Justin Timberlake can’t lead

Justin Timberlake simply doesn’t sell at the movies the way he sells records. IN TIME was not certified platinum. IN TIME, with Pipsqueak firmly in the lead, was nowhere near gold either. Or silver. So he still has yet to prove that he can carry a movie. As you know though, that ego, it doesn’t take well to rejection and failure. Full Story

Granny Freeze and The Family Fang

Have you read Kevin Wilson’s The Family Fang? I finished it a few weeks ago. It is hilariously imagined, hysterical in parts, and uncomfortably disturbing throughout: the Fangs are already a reality; you can see it on TV. And worse still, though perhaps that’s the point, people can’t recognise themselves in the story. Full Story

PPZ is never happening

First, The Walking Dead is on shaky ground—season two has been good but not great so far. Then, the more I learn about the production of World War Z, the more depressed I get. (Lainey: it sounds like the production is an over-budget mess. Also, by accident, apparently today is book day on my blog.) Now, Pride & Prejudice & Zombies, author Seth Grahame-Smith’s clever, zombie-infested take on the Jane Austen classic, has lost its THIRD director. Full Story

The Hunger Games posters: cause for optimism

We are just about 5 months away from The Hunger Games movie in March. So far it’s been one step forward, one step back, particularly as it relates to casting. Lionsgate has released 8 character posters to start building momentum. There’s a lot of photoshopping and skin doctoring happening here. And still, I don’t hate it. Full Story

Check out Isla Fisher in costume as Myrtle Wilson in The Great Gatsby 3D (which isn’t the official title but the notion seems so ridiculous it may as well be) shooting in Australia opposite Joel Edgerton as Tom Buchanan and Tobey Maguire’s Nick Carraway. I think I might love her as Myrtle, just looking at her body language as they film a scene during which the two adulterers can’t keep their hands off each other. Full Story

The GMD is slick and sensitive

They’ve released a poster for Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. As you can see, Tom Cruise is front and centre, under a hooded leather jacket, looking appropriately determined. He is accessorised by his co-stars Jeremy Renner, Paula Patton, and Simon Pegg. Where’s Josh Holloway? No matter. All that matters, always, is the GMD, who’s actually kinda hot here, strategically placed in the foreground with the added benefit of not seeming so short. Full Story

Ejiofor, Fassbender and Pitt are conspiring against us

I love Michael Fassbender. I almost love him more than Ryan Gosling. I love him so much I never want to meet/see him for fear of him doing something to wreck my crush. I love him, shark smile and all. There’s no point to this, I just wanted to confess my extreme and unreasonable Fass-love.Remember that five minutes in Inglorious Basterds when The Fassbender and Brad Pitt were in the same scene? Remember how awesome it was? Well now we’re going to get two hours of that. Full Story
