Ben Affleck recently gave an interview to Entertainment Weekly for their Superhero Face Punch issue in which he talks about his older, even more cynical Batman, and the open-ended promise of a Batfleck-directed Batman movie, but the thing nerds are fixating on is that Affleck confirms that at the time of Superhero Face Punch, Robin is dead. Full Story

Let me tell off the top that I don’t have video for this and I’M SORRY, I can’t find it. I am as disappointed as you are. Because I’d probably rub one out to Oscar Isaac reading too. We do have pictures though? Does that work? Oscar Isaac was in London this weekend for Letters Live – celebrities reading aloud correspondence from famous personalities. Full Story

The Book Of Negroes is of the most important literary works to come out of Canada. It’s about a woman called Aminata, born in West Africa, kidnapped and sold to slavery in America – a difficult but necessary read. The story was turned into a miniseries airing in Canada on the CBC and in the US on BET and cleaned up at the Canadian Screen Awards this week, including Best Actress in a Series last night for Aunjanue Ellis. Full Story

Captain America can do this all day

The second—and some say final—trailer for Captain America: Civil War was just released and it’s a continuation of what has been, so far, a stellar ad campaign. Last year, Disney kinda blew it with Avengers: Age of Ultron, not really doing a great job communicating the tone of the final film. Full Story

The Aaron Paul Edition of Ask, Believe, Receive

Do you think asking for things on Twitter is a bit desperate? Like if you were applying for a job, would you tweet the company and tell them you really, really want it? If you are Aaron Paul, it seems to work. He’s been talking about the Stephen King series The Dark Tower since 2014, and two days ago he said this: Dear @StephenKing Full Story

Tina Fey in Whiskey Tango Foxtrot

Tina Fey’s latest movie, Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, is a frustrating viewing experience. Directed by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa (Focus, Crazy Stupid Love), the film has the same tone problems that have plagued the duo since their debut film, I Love You Phillip Morris, which is magic they have not been able to recreate. Full Story

The Witch

Imagine if The Crucible and The Shining had a baby and rolled it around in Twin Peaks dust, and you’d have The Witch, the feature film debut of writer/director Robert Eggers. Set in seventeenth century New England, The Witch draws much of its dialogue from actual historical documents of that era, which gives it a very tangible feeling. Full Story

So you know how Hollywood is the pettiest, cattiest cesspool of narcissists and backstabbers? What do you think they’re really saying to themselves now that Alicia Vikander, who’s been in the game a minute, has an Oscar? Jennifer Lawrence did it too. But Jennifer Lawrence has kind of been an unstoppable force. Full Story

Zootopia is a 21st century Disney classic

I know I’ll catch hell from the Frozen fans for this, but Zootopia is the best move from Disney Animation since The Lion King (it also just set a box office record).  First of all, animals wearing people clothes is always the best, and every movie could be improved by the presence of an animal who thinks it’s people. Full Story

You’re about to punch me. Because the Oscars just ended a little over a week ago and already I’m talking about next year’s awards. Before you go for my face though…wait! This is about Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling, does that help? As you know, the two worked on Damian Chazelle’s Whiplash follow-up, La La Land, last year. Full Story

Elijah Wood and Nicolas Cage in THE GREATEST MOVIE EVER

March 8, 2016 17:54:28 Posted at March 8, 2016 17:54:28
Sarah Posted by Sarah

Elijah Wood used his Lord of the Rings juice to push through passion projects like the criminally underseen TV show Wilfred, and genre movies like the Maniac remake and Cooties. But apparently he’s grown tired of being a purveyor of fine niche entertainment and has entered the ironic portion of his career because he is willfully choosing to star in movies with Vin Diesel and Nicolas Cage. Full Story
