Lainey usually hogs the Timothy Olyphant photos but she let me have these new shots of Olyphant on stage because I miss Justified so terribly and this is usually the time of year when I’m recapping Justified but there is no more Justified to be recapped and I’m sad. But here’s the next best thing—Timothy Olyphant in a flannel shirt and cowboy boots, looking very Raylan Givens-ish during the opening night of Kenneth Lonergan’s new play, Hold on to Me Darling. Full Story

Let’s start by acknowledging that I am a cynical asshole and not at all this movie’s target audience. Miracles from Heaven was not made for me but I have to review it anyway, and I do so knowing full well that what I identify as problems won’t register with the movie’s intended audience. Full Story

They’re shooting the Fifty Shades Of Grey sequel in Vancouver right now. There have been a lot of photos taken of the actors on set. I haven’t posted many, or any, because they haven’t been all that interesting until now. Not that this is really, really interesting. Just… really, really pretty. Full Story

Last week Sarah wrote about the latest trailer for Captain America: Civil War. It was posted, however, with Iron Man as the feature photo. Click here for a refresher. Sarah did not appreciate this. Because I am Team Iron Man. I was told on Twitter that I’m on the wrong side of history. Full Story

Indiana Jones is returning

But without George Lucas this time. Does that make it better? It’s interesting that in the last decade Harrison Ford has revisited his two most beloved characters, Han Solo and Indiana Jones, and it turned out so wildly different. Everyone loved Han Solo in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, particularly because the character got the heroic end he always deserved—he should have died in Return of the Jedi—but Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull almost destroyed Indy’s legacy. Full Story

I am predisposed to be kind to Seth Rogen right now because the premiere of the TV show he’s producing, Preacher, was announced (May 22), and I am very much looking forward to this show and my friend E texted me from SXSW after the pilot screened there to say things like, “You’re going to love it” and, “It will make you so happy. Full Story

A couple of days after the Oscars, I overheard a conversation at work in the bathroom. It was two women, millennial age, talking about Leonardo DiCaprio. How amazing he is. How amazing his speech was, because he made it about the environment. How amazing it was that he finally won because he so deserves it and has been overlooked for so long. Full Story

Many people thought Jacob Tremblay deserved an Oscar nomination for his performance in Room. Brie Larson won the Best Actress Oscar for Room. And what she gave us in that film could not have happened without the other person in that room – Jacob. Jacob was named Best Actor (over Christopher Plummer!) last night at the Canadian Screen Awards. Full Story

Go in knowing nothing about 10 Cloverfield Lane

I hate the mystery box. I am not a fan of the JJ Abrams School of SECRETY SECRETS. It only worked once, with Cloverfield, because that movie came out of left field and had nothing to do with anything, so there were no preconceived notions or expectations about what it would be. All we knew from the secretive marketing campaign was that it was a monster movie, and then it delivered on that premise while also featuring some innovative low budget filmmaking from Matt Reeves. Full Story

Ben Affleck recently gave an interview to Entertainment Weekly for their Superhero Face Punch issue in which he talks about his older, even more cynical Batman, and the open-ended promise of a Batfleck-directed Batman movie, but the thing nerds are fixating on is that Affleck confirms that at the time of Superhero Face Punch, Robin is dead. Full Story
