I love it when I need to write about someone and they oblige me with new photos. Idris Elba was nominated for two Golden Globe awards this morning. And here he is looking FINE in blue leather today in London. So this post satisfies both the people who care about the Globes and the ones who don’t give a sh-t about awards and just want to get off. Full Story

Carol led the way with 5 Golden Globe nominations this morning. The Big Short, The Revenant, and Steve Jobs are in with 4. The Martian has 3. And Spotlight has 3. But no actors from Spotlight were singled out. The SAGs only nominated Rachel McAdams from that cast yesterday. Is that a concern for the film that was considered the frontrunner earlier this week? Or maybe, if they position it right, that will actually help the film? That no one person is more important than the story. Full Story

No Johnny Depp. Unlike the Screen Actors Guild, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association went with Will Smith over Johnny Depp for the Golden Globes. They’re starf-ckers, as you know, the HFPA. But between the stars to f-ck, they chose Will even though they’ve made a joke of themselves in the past by nominating Johnny for The Tourist, remember that? I don’t know if that’s going to carry through to the Oscars, but what’s important to note here is that a formidable challenger has emerged for Leonardo DiCaprio. Full Story

Haven’t seen too much of Oscar Isaac on the Star Wars: The Force Awakens press tour as Daisy Ridley and John Boyega have been front and centre so far and we’ve seen Lupita out there too. But with so many foreign markets, and with the foreign markets so important to the box office, they’ve split up the promotional destinations. Full Story

Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Adam Driver, and JJ Abrams were in Seoul today promoting Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Um, you guys, we are just a week away. A WEEK AWAY. I’m not sure Sarah is going to sleep this weekend. I like that this is the Star Wars A Team going out for the new generation. Full Story

Leonardo DiCaprio, one step closer. As expected, he secured a Screen Actors Guild Nomination today for Best Actor along with Johnny Depp, Michael Fassbender, and Eddie Redmayne. As for that fifth spot… Bryan Cranston over Matt Damon and Will Smith. SAG loves Bryan Cranston. They’ve awarded him for Walter White and Breaking Bad. Full Story

Last night was the premiere of Tina Fey’s and Amy Poehler’s new movie, Sisters, which opens next week against New New Star Wars. The opening weekend projection for Star Wars is $190-$225 million, which means no one has a clue what it’s really going to do. There are only three comparables for this movie, both Avengers and Jurassic World, and in each scenario the box office was unpredictable. Full Story

Tarzan, King of the Cheese

The first images from Alexander Skarsgard’s probably doomed movie, Tarzan, have been released and holy buckets of hell, they are so cheesy. There are two photos—one shows Margot Robbie as Jane in a dirty dress, with Tarzan creeping on her, and the other is of Tarzan’s abs. Full Story

Rob Lowe received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame yesterday. He could have received it 20 years ago and he would still look exactly the same, what is the secret, seriously!?! If you’re a millennial you might not understand what Rob Lowe means to the generation that came before you but for those of you who did grow up in the Brat Pack era, I know you know and you remember – in many ways, Rob Lowe and crew were our introduction to pop culture, teen angst, and class. Full Story

It was announced today that Alicia Vikander will receive the Rising Star Award at the Palm Springs Film Festival in January. As you know, Alicia’s being positioned for an Oscar nomination for her work in The Danish Girl and she’s shown up on several critics’ lists as one of the best of the year though it remains to be seen how her chances will be affected by the category controversy between supporting and lead. Full Story
