The only category that feels close to a done deal is Best Actor because it does feel like everyone is going to just roll over for Leonardo DiCaprio and finally give him an Oscar for freezing his eyelids shut in the Yukon (I spoke to one Academy voter who told me Leo D has his vote because “I’m afraid if he doesn’t get it this time, next time he’ll be hooking his nuts up to a car battery”). Full Story

Please tell me you’ve seen Creed. Creed was my favourite movie of 2015. It was on Sarah’s Top 10 of 2015 – click here if you missed that. And it was a box office success, honouring the Rocky franchise’s legacy and introducing it to a new generation. Full Story

In 2014, Kristen Stewart was featured in ELLE. I wrote at the time that the interview was frustrating. Click here for a full refresher, but this was the quote I was referring to: “Never at any point have I sat down and plotted how I should proceed from here on. Full Story

Let’s begin today with our first 2016 sighting of Cary Fukunaga who was in New York last night to receive the National Board of Review’s Freedom of Expression Award for Beasts Of No Nation. Not sure if Cary will be at the Golden Globes this weekend since Beasts was only nominated once for Idris Elba in the Supporting Actor category but the big prize is Oscar and Netflix is hoping that its first feature might be included on the list for Best Picture. Full Story

Mad Max: Fury Road is the film that keeps showing up on all the “best” lists from critics to guilds to industry associations. And it was a blockbuster, even though there was so much anxiety during production about overblown budgets and production issues. Most experts seem to agree that Mad Max will be nominated for Oscar Best Picture, but they’re not taking any chances. Full Story

Imagine if it was the other PGA I was referring to? No, no, the people who run the golf organisation don’t have anything to do with Compton. But the Producers Guild of America has included Straight Outta Compton among the list of 10 films contending for Outstanding Motion Picture three days before the Oscar Academy’s nomination deadline. Full Story

Kristen Stewart collected her Best Supporting Actress award from the New York Film Critics Circle yesterday for her performance in Clouds Of Sils Maria. Her friend and co-star Julianne Moore presented to her. On stage, Kristen kept her remarks short, but cheeky: “I’ve received a lot of MTV Popcorns and stuff like that. Full Story

I wrote about this a few weeks ago – click here for a refresher. This is what I was afraid of. This is what I mean when I said that I SAW HIM FIRST. You know. If you’ve been reading my blog for a few years, you know that I SAW HIM FIRST. Full Story
