Angelina Jolie arrived at LAX yesterday with her four oldest children, Maddox, Pax, Zahara, and Shiloh, after spending some time scouting locations in Cambodia for her upcoming Netflix project. Not that much luggage, right? Wondering if their bags travelled separately with assistants. If you’ve been reading this blog long enough, you know that I’m obsessed with celebrity travel and luggage transportation because it’s an obsession for me and when I travel, and a source of major irritation too because every time I fly, there is almost always a fight that breaks out between passengers over overhead compartment space and people rushing the gate the minute it’s called to get on board first. Full Story

Jem and the Holograms is an empty nothing of a non-movie

Jem and the Holograms, the movie, has as much to do with the 1980s cartoon Jem and the Holograms as a Youtube video of housecats has to do with Thundercats. If you are a fan of the cartoon Jem, don’t bother with the movie as you will only make yourself angry. If you are neutral on the cartoon, or have no memory of it, don’t bother with Jem because you will be bored, possibly even confused. Full Story

Jared Leto is ruining The Joker

And not because he looks like a Juggalo or because I think he’ll do a bad job of it, but just because every time Jared Leto talks about ANYTHING, I want to punch him in the face. He’s so far up his own f*cking ass it’s unbearable. We get it—playing The Joker in the wake of Heath Ledger’s (much beloved, much praised) performance is a tall order. Full Story

I miss Michelle Williams. It’s been a quiet couple of years of her, by choice. Her last film, Suite Francaise, was released only in Europe, not in North America, though it was reasonably well received. I guess they just couldn’t find a distributor who thought that audiences over here would be into it? We’re cultural pigs, basically. Full Story

The Bond premiere is happening right now in London. I’ll post photos of the cast tomorrow. Right now, we’ll focus on the royals, because the princes William and Harry were there along with Princess Catherine, all of them attending their second official engagement of the day. Click here Full Story

Bill Murray in Rock the Kasbah

Not even Bill Murray’s benevolent-wizard persona could save Rock the Kasbah, a movie so baffling, so bad—so bafflingly bad—that it evokes the specter of Ishtar more than once. This is such an ill-advised, tone deaf movie I don’t even know where to start. I guess with the fact that it tanked Full Story

Bradley Cooper’s new film, Burnt, opens on Friday. So far the reviews have not been that good. It’s Halloween weekend too. Like if anyone’s going to the movies, I’m not sure that’s the movie they’re choosing, not when Steve Jobs continues to build buzz and The Martian keeps holding on. Full Story

Ava DuVernay like a BOSS

Ava DuVernay was honored this year as part of Elle’s annual Women In Hollywood awards, and she gave an AMAZING speech at their awards dinner. The whole thing is well worth a read, but there are a couple highlights that tie into some of the particular issues surrounding diversity in Hollywood that we’ve talked about recently. Full Story

Everyone thought Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield broke up earlier this year when he was away in Asia shooting a movie for Martin Scorsese. Those rumours ended up being bullsh-t when he was seen with her as soon as he got home. They spent the summer together in LA. And now he’s in Australia working on Mel Gibson’s Hacksaw Ridge. Full Story
