There’s a rumour going around about a new “surprise” album which… wouldn’t be a surprise anymore if it’s true. Billboard is pointing to a “Release Confirmation” that seems to suggest that Beyonce: Volume 2 is on the way on November 14 (online release) featuring collaborations with Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, and Justin Timberlake. Gwyneth Paltrow has had a great week. Taylor Swift has had an amazing week. She’s been out there hard, pushing 1989. And I’m curious to find out what the first week sales figures are going to be. Because RED was a big number. This one will be a big number too. For sure the biggest number of the year. Full Story
So I think I might disappoint you again with the following: I LOVE the new Taylor Swift album, 1989. It’s a dance in your kitchen kind of album. It’s a play in the background while you’re getting ready with your team kind of album. It’s a play in your car on the way to the airport to drop off your best friend after the most amazing weekend kind of album.
And it’s not that Taylor isn’t pissed anymore. At the boys, at the broken hearts they leave behind. It’s just that she seems a lot less… petulant? Less petulant in her anger? I never thought I’d want to have a conversation with Taylor Swift before, like a real conversation. And now, after listening to this album, after hearing her music, I’m starting to believe Taylor Swift might have something to say.
Or, again, maybe it’s just that I grew up in the 80s. I can’t resist this sound.

Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban, and Harry Connick Jr are shooting the Hollywood round of the upcoming season of American Idol this week. The show’s keeping her paid until Spring 2015. And then, I guess, she starts working on the Vegas show? No confirmation has happened yet, but I can’t imagine they’d waste that announcement when there’s nothing else to co-promote. Full Story
TMZ is reporting that Jennifer Lopez is working on a Vegas deal. Apparently she’s negotiating with The Axis at Planet Hollywood for 72 shows over 24 weeks that would pay her $350K each time. It’s similar to Britney. Except, well, didn’t you think that JLO had a lot more going on than Britney? For Britney, the Vegas thing makes sense, because …you know. Full Story

Beyonce, JayZ, and the Blue Ivy Carter were at the Gare du Nord Station in Paris today. As you can see, B is wearing a heinous new hairstyle/wig. And, worse, it’s totally off brand. This, after all, is the person who gets the Louvre shut down so that she and her family can enjoy a private tour. Full Story
When we talk about the fame game and the celebrity ecosystem, and who sells best and who understands the play, it’s often a long-term case study. Think of how the Jolie made her moves – it didn’t happen in a year, but it was a well-executed multiple-down strategy, sometimes advancing only one or two yards, sometimes it was 15 yard major gain, followed by a modest 4 yard run. Beyonce and JayZ took the Blue Ivy Carter to the Louvre yesterday. They’ve been playing happy Parisian family for a few weeks now since the end of the On The Run tour. Please note Blue’s leather jacket. It’s SKIRTED. It’s gorgeous. Is it better than any leather jacket you’ve ever had? I thought so. Full Story
Mimi, our Elusive (but omnipresent) Chanteuse, kicked off her tour in Tokyo the other night. Mimi’s been in the news a lot lately because she and Nick Cannon have separated. And she and Jermaine Dupri broke up too. And no one who isn’t a lamb cared about her new album. So it was time for a good headline. Full Story
