Willie Nelson played a show in Boston last night. And Johnny Depp played a set with him. Willie apparently introduced him as just “Johnny”. Which, fine, I guess he didn’t want to upstage the main act but if he wasn’t Johnny DEPP, would he have been invited to be there in the first place? Like does he really have such mad skills on the guitar that it doesn’t matter WHO he is? There does seem to be an advantage to him playing guitar though in that when he’s on the guitar, he de-accessorises, possibly because all that feather and scarf sh-t that he’s always wearing gets in the way of the music. Last night. The MuchMusic Video Awards. Toronto’s biggest block party, a massive spectacle, an annual tradition, and one of the few events outside New York and LA that draws some of the biggest names of the time. Lorde performed. This song is a mess. I don’t even know what it actually sounds like. And they didn’t even have to sing live. But the music wasn’t the point. The point was her embellished tights. Also, Pitbull’s pants. Brazilian recording artist Claudia Leitte’s all like, hey what about me? Please. Full Story

It’s the name of a Coldplay song off the album Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends. The first time I heard it I thought of Steve Winwood. But perspective is a gift. Because I’d rather listen to Lovers In Japan than the embarrassingly sh-tty Magic or A Sky Full Of Stars. Anyway, Chris Martin arrived in Tokyo yesterday. Full Story

The video for Arcade Fire’s We Exist has now been released starring Andrew Garfield in what may be one of the finest performances of his career. To me, it’s what he’s saying to me as he’s dancing. Dancing by himself. Like totally …abandoned. Completely unselfconsciously. Full Story
It’s Jann Arden’s new album, released today. I’ve had the honour of working with Jann the last few weeks and knowing her the last few months on The Social. There never was a more generous, honest, crazy kind, and hilarious artist…friend…person.
Jann actually IS Everything. Just Everything.
She will never, ever make you feel sh-tty or regretful for supporting her. She will never let you down. Too often entertainers let us down. Jann’s one of the very, very few who you’ll stay in love with, like, forever. You will love her the most. And she’ll never make you change your mind. The new song is below.
Yours in gossip,
This is what I always say about Avril Lavigne: her fan base never grows with her. So she has to keep going back to mining from the 14 and under demo. That’s the only age range that will appreciate –if that’s the word – her new video for the song Hello Kitty, which actually includes this line: “Like a fat kid on a pack of Smarties. Full Story

Hang on, I have to Google. Got it. Robert Ackroyd. Florence + The Machine. You remember? Click here Full Story
