Help me, Duana... HELP, HELP! Our family is eagerly awaiting our second addition, a boy. However, my husband and I are not syncing in the name department. He is more of the traditional type who likes names such as Jack, Charlie and William. Being an elementary teacher, these names are too popular, in my opinion. Full Article

Hi Duana, Writing to you for a friend (whom I got hooked on your column but so far has been UNMOVED by any of your great, great names and is due in, like, 4 days). The facts: mom and dad have very 80s first names (Julie & Trevor), last name is distinctly Nordic. Older sister is named Neve. Full Article

Hi Duana!  I've been dreaming of the day I could message you to talk baby names. I've struggled with infertility for years due to stage 4 endometriosis but thanks to IVF I'm currently 6 months pregnant with a baby boy! Now, here's our dilemma. I'm Egyptian, my husband is French Canadian and we're hoping to find a name that can be pronounced by my super Egyptian parents, the general English population and my husbands super Québécois family. Full Article

Hi Duana, I am very close to delivering my 4th (yes fourth) child!!  He was a surprise and while I thought I was done with the whole baby naming thing, I have now found myself dealing with it again and no better than I did the first 3 times.  The siblings are Hazel, Leo and Phoebe. I hope you don't tell me those names don't go together because its too late!! Our last name is one syllable, sounds like “Lang” which is why in general I think two syllable names sound better with our last name but its not a requirement. Full Article

Hi Duana, First off, I love your column and despite stressing about this I'm excited to be writing in and hearing your thoughts! I'm due in a little less than a month with our first (a boy), and my husband and I are struggling on the name front. The biggest issue is my husband sees naming as a zero sum game - he has to pick one and like it and forget the rest. Full Article

Dear Duana, Just like everything in my life, I'm cutting this one really close. Our daughter (first child) is due on March 15, and we are still stumped. I read your column religiously, and read The Name Therapist in my first trimester. I'm hoping you can help solidify one of our options, or somehow miraculously suggest something we haven't thought of already. Full Article

Hi Duana, I don't usually do this sort of thing, but I'm writing this with fingers and toes crossed that you respond to this email as I'm coming up empty for our third (and most likely last) child's name.  It was so easy with our first two even though we didn't know the gender for either until they were born. Full Article

Hi Duana! We are due with baby girl number 2 in March and I'm stuck on loving-but-questioning the name Tory. I can't remember where this name came to me from but I already find myself calling her "Baby Tory" in my head, for some reason it just sounds natural to me. So, I love Tory but I'm a bit prone to overthinking and I find myself wondering . Full Article

Duana Names: If You Please

Hi Duana,   I’m not sure if your name suggestions extend to pets, but here goes nothing!   I am getting two Siamese kittens from the same litter this month, a male lilac point Siamese and a female chocolate point Siamese. Adorable pics attached!   I already know I am going to name the male “Otto,” as it was my grandfather’s middle name. Full Article

Hey Duana! I am a bit of a name-junkie myself, and have carved out what I see as the *perfect* names for our little family. Growing up I was the only "C" name in a sea of "J' names (literally almost everyone in my family, 30+ people!) so I resigned myself very early on to alliterate my own family one day. Full Article
