Hi Duana, I would really appreciate your advice! Our first boy is due this summer and while my husband and I have agreed on a name, which I suggested and love, I'm having some worries about it. We live in a very ethnically un-diverse community. Most everyone in our town has an English or Irish surname. Full Article

One of the many, many things I love about this column and all of you who contribute is that it is so unabashedly a sociology exercise. We discuss names, and sooner or later those names apply to someone – and you can’t not react.  I knew that there would be people mad because I didn’t like certain names. Full Article

Hi Duana - Our family is expecting the addition of a baby boy the beginning of July. He is eagerly awaited by a big brother Rocco and big sister Tessa. We have a single syllable Chinese last name. You can see that we lie somewhere in the middle of quirky and traditional as far as naming goes. Full Article

Hi Duana, So here’s the dilemma, I'm having quadruplets! I’m having two girls and two boys.So far we have three out of the four names settled but are having trouble cracking the last name for our boy. For the girls we have Remy and Lore, which is German and pronounced like Laura but we know most people will say Lore which we are cool with, and have actually debated on which pronunciation we like more. Full Article

Hi Duana, Looking for some name help and due in 3 months!! My hubs loves the name Frank....and I just can't. All I think of is frank the tank or a kind of chubby / weirdo kid. To be fair, I love that the name is super classic but not popular. He likes that it ends with a K sound (and everything else about it). Full Article

Hey Duana, I am due in July and am hoping for some guidance. My husband and I are expecting a little girl and this will be our only one. Sadly, I was pregnant with twins but recently lost one and now all of the names we loved feel like too much of a pair as we had been throwing them around together. Full Article

A bunch of updates came flowing in, letting me know that while everything else seems to be at a standstill because we’re waiting and waiting and waiting for summer to actually show up, babies are still arriving and being named and keeping us all amused. Really that’s what the propagation of the species is about, right?  First, a spelling debate that got a lot of participation from all of you. Full Article

Duana, Just read your column on how tough boys names are, and that is right where we are. We don't know if we're having a boy or a girl, but we have lots of girls names that we love, and I have no concern that we'll be able to pick a name we love if we have a girl. We are stumped on boys names. Full Article

Hi Duana, I am due with my second child, a baby boy, the end of June. We have a little girl and her name is Grace. My husband and I immediately loved her name so we never had any issues or debates over choosing a name. This time around it has been much different. This will be the first boy in 4 generations of women on my side, so needless to say our families are pretty excited to welcome a baby boy. Full Article

Baby #2 is on the way and my husband and I just can’t agree on a name.  We’re having a baby girl and already have a daughter named London Nicole. The last name will be hyphenated and we would love a name with the same feel as London without getting to frilly (no Annabelles, Charlottes or other ‘Disney Princess sounding names’) His picks: 1. Full Article

Duana, I am pregnant with twins - a boy and a girl! The pregnancy is a wonderful, wonderful surprise as I was previously told by doctor's it would never happen for me. Believe it or not the time has flown by - my partner and I got married (LOL!) moved houses, renovated and have pretty much changed our lives around to make room for our new babies. Full Article

Hi Duana, I'm due in June with our second child (a girl!) and we are having a hard time finding a name we love that goes well with both our last name and our son's name, Marcus.  Since we have a somewhat long Italian last name that people tend to trip over, we are trying to stay away from names that are difficult to spell/pronounce or have several different pronunciations. Full Article

Duana Help! Naming our first born was super easy. My husband and I both have brothers and lots of male cousins that will do their part to honour family names. So there was no pressure for us to take that route. I opened up a baby name book, stumbled upon Nolan and that was it. Middle name Nash, easy. Full Article
