Hi Duana, I am so confused. Pregnancy hormones are not helping! We are expecting our second child in less than 2 weeks and are choosing not to find out the gender. However, we are stumped on names. We both are of Indian origin and thought we were being unique in picking the name Aria for our first daughter, due to its Sanskrit origin and beautiful meaning. Full Article

Hi Duana, I'm not pregnant but I have a name question or curiosity that I need to have some clarity on. We had a baby girl in December and named her Kyra. One month before she was born an acquaintance had a girl named Kiera. Two months after out Kyra i heard of another Kira. A friend due in July said that name is on her short list. Full Article

Hi Duana, I have a unique name: Siobhan. Luckily I live in the UK so most people know how to pronounce it but I grew up in Australia where they didn't. Few can spell it but I've gotten so used to it that I don't mind. I am need of some name-nerd expertise. I'm getting a dog later this year, just need to puppy proof my house first, and decide on a breed. Full Article

Hi Duana, Writing in for my work wife who is due in June. Her daughter is Eliana and they had a very hard time coming up with that name. Mom and dad have very common 80s names (mom is something like Lauren or Julie* and dad is something like Jason or Austin, last name is very common like Cooper). Full Article

Hello Duana, I'll be delivering a baby boy in September as a single mum. The circumstances around the situation are delicate at best, let's just say I have no confirmation if the father wants any involvement in this child's life. With that in mind I feel that naming could go one of two ways. Full Article

Duana Names: My Tradition is Losing My Mind

Hi Duana, My lovely husband has been alternating subtle and not-so- subtle hints that if our second baby is a girl, he would really like to name her for his mother. It's tradition in his family to name new babies for their grandparents, and while that's great for some, it's really just not my style. Full Article

Hi Duana! We have a son named Grant and a daughter named Lucy. I love both of their names and they are both the only ones in their class and have family history, but now we are struggling with #3! We had always said we'd name our hypothetical future children Sebastian and Sylvia...but it was more of a joke because we thought we were probably set with the two. Full Article

Hi Duana!!! I am writing with an urgent request – my brother and sister-in-law just had their perfect daughter yesterday, their second child, and are having trouble picking a name! They have asked for my help so of course I thought of you. I know you have some crazy June baby drama to deal with but wonder if you could bump my bro and SIL up the line? If baby was a boy, he would have been named Everett, but they didn't have any set girls names - they thought they would decide when they met her. Full Article

Duana, We have lots of time to answer this question (this isn't like a, due next week problem) but I am worried that we will never be able to decide on a girl's name. I NEVER thought this would be us because I had my names, boy and girl, picked out forever and ever, long before I met my husband. Full Article

Hi Duana! I'm having a huge naming crisis. We have a 2 1/2 year old girl named Olivia Rose (I know it's popular but we loved it and we haven't met any others, so I wasn't too concerned) and now we are having a boy due June 8th and I'm having a horrible time with names. When we briefly talked about it before we knew the sex, we had picked Cora Jane for a girl, but then it all came crashing down when they told us we were having a boy and now I have no name. Full Article

Hi Duana, I love your name nerding and while I do wish my husband and I could agree on a name, I'm pretty excited to get to reach out to you for help. Since finding out we were pregnant we've been arguing over names and eventually called a detente pending discovery of the gender so we could narrow the argument down by 50%. Full Article
