Hey Duana, I hope this email finds you well. My husband and I need a bit of help naming our 2nd baby girl coming along this August. Hi Duana, I know your focus has pretty much exclusively been human names (real life babies and characters) - but would you consider helping out with horse names? It’s been 21 years since I last owned one, but yesterday I bought a new horse. He’s got an interesting past, and hopefully a promising competitive future. Full Article

Hey Duana! Well, we have a tri-cultural doozy on our hands. My husband and I are both originally from the Balkans, I grew up in Canada, he in Sweden. And Sweden is where we live now. We have a son already, and are expecting a baby girl in July. We really struggled with my son's name, it was important to us that the name was at the very least pronounceable in all three of our 'cultures' and we didn't want to settle for very traditional names, got a lot of unsolicited recommendations for Phillip, Alexander etc. Full Article

Hi Duana, My sister-in-law and brother are getting closer to their due date but are no closer to deciding on a name. Daughter #2 arrives this July, and although they're completely in love with their first daughter's name (Elise), they're struggling to come up with a second name that they love equally as much. Full Article

Hi Duana! I promise I am not stalking you! Due to medical reasons I am having baby #2 (a boy) earlier than anticipated so the date has moved up, yet we are still at a complete impasse for a name. However, I may have one that I wanted to run by you as I am wavering. As quick background, my husband hijacked the naming of our firstborn daughter - Margaret Elise - while I was still drugged up in the operating room. Full Article

Hi Duana! We are expecting a baby boy at the end of July and have literally no name list! We have a daughter named Vera and we both love her name. Duana Names: Can A Name Really Be Unlucky?

Duana Posted by Duana at July 8, 2016 19:23:58 July 8, 2016 19:23:58

Hi Duana, I always loved the name Mallory for a girl. I am due this August and started to research a bit more into the name and discovered that the meaning of Mallory is "unfortunate" or  "unlucky". I really still want to use this name, but I am worried that when my daughter is older and does a little name research of her own, she will discover the negative history of her name and wonder why we chose this for her. Full Article

Duana, We have an unknown amount of time to answer our question - we're prospective adoptive parents currently in the "waiting period" portion of the adoption process. Potentially, we might not have much lead time between learning about a child who could be placed with us and actually bringing that child home, so we want to have some solid name ideas worked out of time. Full Article
