Hi Duana, I've read your column for a long time now but it's totally possible I missed the one about this subject - I find it hard to believe you haven't tackled it before.  But anyway, I've decided to go ahead and write to you and hopefully you'll decide to give me some advice even if you have had a question like this before. Full Article

Hi Duana, My husband and I are having our first baby - a boy - in the next couple of weeks and we're having a hard time coming up with a trilingual name for him. Our parameters are few but somewhat limiting. My husband is Moroccan and we would both like our son's name to reflect his heritage, in addition to be easy to pronounce in English. Full Article

Hi there Duana, My due date early March, and my husband and I are excited to be welcoming our first baby; a boy.  However, even with 3 months to go I'm feeling stymied in the name department.  There is nothing we LOVE. Nothing getting us fired up. When it comes to taste my husband is very pedestrian; he can't stomach anything too 'weird'. Full Article

Hi Duana, My husband and I are currently expecting our second at the end of April and we just found out that its a boy. I'm not going to lie, you have totally sold me on the name Damian - I love it so much, as does my husband. It's classic, uncommon but not unknown, and goes well as a sibling with our daughter's name. Full Article

Duana, help! I am pregnant with our second set of twins. (I have no idea what the actual odds are of this happening to someone, but here we are.) My fraternal boys are Rhys and Dylan. Similar, but not matchy-matchy - the boys are completely different people; we never dress them alike or anything like that, and we are planning a similar approach to our twin girls that are due in about six weeks. Full Article

I really, really need your help. In February I will be giving birth to our second child (gender is unknown) and cannot think of the perfect boy name. Our first child is a boy named Tate, and I have yet to run into another one his age (or any age for that matter). We loved his name and knew it was our only option if we had a boy. Full Article

Duana, I am currently pregnant with our second baby and we have chosen to not find out the sex of the baby. For some reason I have no trouble coming up with girl names but A LOT of trouble finding boy names that can stay on our short list. It's a real problem. The two main causes of the problem are that all of the names I truly love have been used by someone be know, and the other problem is that the style of name I like is increasingly popular and we don't want to pick a super popular name. Full Article

Duana Names: We Agree….Now What?

Hi Duana, I'm expecting my first after multiple losses - we are so pumped! The husband and I have always agreed on a name for a boy: Gus. We love it! But is it too hipster ironic? Also, are we obligated to give Gus a more formal first name like Augustus? (Which I love but I'm afraid it's too froofy) Second - if we have an Augustus what would we name the sibling? Especially if it's a girl! I feel like there needs to be a good fit! Thanks Duana! Jennifer ____ If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it enough times to make this phrase a cliché: A lot of popular names are popular because they’re so good. Full Article

Hi, Duana! I've been reading your Names column for a long time now and you have totally and completely sold me on the name Otto. I am pregnant with my second child and I'm pretty sure it's a boy, but I don't know for sure yet. We definitely agree that if it's a boy, his name will be Otto, however, we just can't figure out a middle name. Full Article

Ok Duana: I have a couple of questions for you! My husband and I are expecting our first child and we are leaving the sex a surprise. We both have names that we love that we don't necessarily agree on but also could live with. My husband is Jewish and is really pushing for the name Moses for a boy, which I do love (he has no idea who Gwyneth Paltrow is so I'm even more okay with it. Full Article

Hi Duana, My sister and her husband are currently expecting their third child just after Christmas, and she's feeling stuck coming up with a name for this little boy.  I feel partly responsible -- a couple of months ago I pointed out that between all of their first names and last name, they were only missing a name that starts with the letter D (Adam & Caitlin, big brother Foster, little sister Elsie, and their last name starts with a B) in order to use all of the first six letters of the alphabet. Full Article
