Hi Duana, I am due with a baby in two weeks(!) and my husband and I need your help. We do not know the gender. If it's a girl we're pretty sure she will be Ruby, but it's boys names where we get stuck! Names we kind of like (but not enough) are Oliver, Kai, Arlo, Leif and Opie. The name has to go with our toddler son's name, Henley Roy. Full Article

Hi Duana! My husband and I are expecting a baby girl this summer, our first child.  For a boy, we were set on our name - John Ryan (so we'd like our girl's name to somewhat go with this in case we have a boy in the future).  For a girl...not so much.  My husband keeps suggesting names out of the 80's: Nicole, Madison, Lindsay, etc; whereas, I've been leaning towards names like Madeleine, Ruby, or Olive (I'm not committed to any yet though). Full Article

Dear Duana, Our son is almost two months old and still needs a name! He has a Chinese name already but we still need a name that the (English-speaking, non-Chinese) side of the family can pronounce (one will be his first name and the other his middle). Emil was our front runner for a while, but we have had nothing but negative reactions to it. Full Article

I hope you can help us a little.  We are having our second child and we just found out it is going to be a boy.  I must say the whole pregnancy for the second time around was a surprise to me and a total accident!  I was convinced and sure that I ever wanted 1 child and 1 child only, but my husband (the only child) is absolutely delighted with our accident :-)  We took ages to agree on the name of our first born boy, it is Michael by the way (we also call him Misha sometimes, as I am Russian and my husband is a Kiwi (New Zealander) so we always wanted a name that would be great and translate well in both English and Russian languages. Full Article

Hi Duana I am fairly newly pregnant with my husband's and my first child. We don't know if we're having a boy or a girl yet, and we are leaning towards leaving it as a surprise anyway. The name situation is already complicated though! Issue 1 is that I am very set on an Irish name for this baby and all that follow. Full Article

Hi Duana, I am almost 8 months pregnant, due July 20th and we are no where close to having a name chosen for our little boy. We are having a problem finding something that 'goes' with our last name. Its Eastern European, 4 syllables, starts with a "D" and ends in "ski". Full Article

Hi Duana! I'm pregnant with boy and I would love your input. Basically, the criteria is really different and kind of badass without sounding like we're trying too hard (so nothing along the Jett, Axl, Ace lines). Our last name begins with a T and ends in -er, so preferably nothing that matches either of those, although I'm not dead set against it if we found something awesome. Full Article

Dear Duana, I just recently found out that I’m pregnant, and am already excitedly combing through the list of favorite names I’ve been keeping for the last couple years! As someone with an unusual name (and I always liked being the only one with my name in my class or workplace), I would like my child to have a similarly uncommon name, as long as it isn’t too complicated to spell and pronounce. Full Article

Hi Duana, I know a mom of a Nathan who is going to name her baby girl Natalie. I think that Natalie's great and Nathan/Nathaniel is probably the only name it doesn't go with because aren't they the same name? Should I say anything? She didn't say for opinions. Any thoughts? Thanks!   ___ Oh man. Full Article

Hi Duana, I love your name-nerd column! My husband and I have hit the name-nerd jackpot: we're expecting twins soon! A boy and a girl. We have a long, hard to pronounce last name, so we want to keep our babies names on the simpler side. We also want their names to match without being too matchy. Full Article
